It's not like I tip less if it's a guy.

No, tips are meant to provide what the *CUSTOMER* wants for ********************THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY*****************. Good service means to give the customer what they want for their money.

Good service means that they have satisfied you. What do you not get about that, huh?

They are there to control the server because the server wants your money.

It's like dangling a present to a kid and saying if you want this present you study hard and get a good grade if you want it. If not, you won't get the present. Understand? It's POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE REINFORCEMENT.

That's what tipping is. To give someone something they gave to you, good service. They want something, I want something. The way to get it is to do what *THEY* want you to do, DUHH.

Every seen 3rd rock from the sun silly video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1ZZWhSvOMI

It's funny, but that's how tipping really works, except if it's something the server actually has control over. In this, the server has no control over some of the these things, so I am not specifically saying what he is. What I am saying is, you do poorly, you get deducted. You do well, you get rewarded.

Her not knowing the dressing is something she should know, so in that case I agree with a tiny deduction. She also should know which person had which drink. Minor mistake, but still should know and you notice how she didn't even *TRY* to get it right just brought out the drinks without looking at her written order. She should have read her written order before bringing it out, noticed which one was for which person x x They were sitting just like that. So on the tray made sure the drinks were in that position left person had red wine, right person had white wine. See the not "TRYING" her best?

Now the bread quality wasn't in her control, that was just for laughs for this show. I have never watched this show before, but this video is funny. Them being out of something wasn't her fault either. Just saying it's a funny silly video.

Tipping works based on what does the customer want and satisfy them, not yourself as the server or owner or manager.

Spring1 I saw someone mention here you're from New Orleans. If so, I urge you to check out this link. Not as some guy you disagree with on the internet, but as a concerned human being.

She seems so much more unhinged than last time. Or maybe we backed away from the crazy train sooner. I think its time for another 9-12 month layoff until someone bumps this or the other server thread and she can return once again.

No, tips are their to REWARD the server, not to CONTROL the server. You are not that persons employer.

I'm avoiding delving into your posts too deeply because you fail to grasp the most basic premise.

I AM since I am paying 90% of their wages. They work for me if they want my tip money. That's how it works.

Controlling is rewarding, because it's rewarding them for them to do what **********I***************ONLY WANT THEM TO DO, NOT what someone else wants them to do for *MY TIP MONEY*.

Why am I paying them a tip if I can't get things how *I* want them, huh? WHY BOTHER PAYING A TIP if someone else is in control, huh?

*ERRRRRRRR*. Wrong. Try again.

You don't control them, you don't get to tell them what to do. You are able to make requests, which they carry out within the rules of their employer. You keep trying to make up these rules, like getting upset that they bring you a refill you didn't ask for (usually a requirement from the employer)

You live in a fantasy land where just because you're paying for a service you get to make up the service that should be received.

I am still enjoying this, screw the rest of you.

So if she is actually from New Orleans, these posts are coming at 10:30PM at night?

Is this foreplay for you springs? Does arguing on the internet get you all moist so you can ravage the empty shell that is left of your husband?

It is one thing to troll while at work and being paid, but to keep fighting the fight when you are home after work is quite the commitment.

There's a tip joke in there somewhere...

No, you are wrong. I get to *ASK* them to do something and if they don't do it, they don't get as good of a tip or a tip at all, it's that simple. They are at MY MERCY IF THEY WANT MY MONEY. It's like dangling money in front of someone(like 3rd rock from the sun) that you want it, it's there, so do your job the way *I* want it and you will get it), understand?

The employer wants to satisfy the customer in order to make money, so they will do what the customer wants.

No I am not. I make the rules for my server, not anyone else since *I* am *PAYING FOR MY TIME THERE CALLED A TIP*. I RULE THE TIME, NOT ANYONE ELSE.

No, as I pointed out earlier JT said that if the customer doesn't want it, they don't "have" to take it.

I will quote it again to show you:

http://www.stuckserving.com/waiter-s...age-2#comments

This is JT that worked or works at Chili's.

JT said: "Obviously if a customer says they don’t want one, I am not expected to bring one."

When I told him this: "It’s not required if they tell you no, is it? So why not ASK this question at ALL your tables when GREETED?"

That's when he gave up and said this: "I’m done, please never come into Chili’s if you’re from the New Orleans area. I’m absolutely not kidding."

That means he isn't "required" if the customer doesn't want it. That means JT can serve the way the *CUSTOMER* wants and that's OK with the manager. That's OK. The employer doesn't rule someone else's money.

You are wrong. No manager is forcing a paying tip customer to take something at their table they do not want. That's ludicrous for you to say such a thing.

No, because I do get things how I want it a lot of times. You live in a fantasy world to think that someone that isn't paying for the service gets to rule it.

Within reason. The employer wants to satisfy the customer in order to make money, true. Implying that they will do whatever the customer wants just to make an extra $2, is crazy.

No you don't have to take it. But sane people don't get upset about it, they just say 'No thanks'

Most restaurants have a simple policy. A guests drink should never be empty. If you're drinking a coke, and it's a third full, they should bring you another coke immediately. The guest shouldn't have to ask every time, since them ordering a coke implies that they want coke.

No, I live in the world of managing successful restaurants. Luckily my customers aren't crazy like you are. You don't get to 'rule' the service, you simply receive it. If you like it, tip well. If you don't like it, don't tip well. But don't get all huffy and puffy because a server did something that wasn't 100% to your specifications, like bringing you a free refill before you ask for it. That's simply insane.

If a server has a four-table section and each table turns over four times in a day, that's 16 tables. You and your husband are one of those 16 tables. Assume six of those tables are parties of two, and ten of them are parties of four.

Therefore that server is probably serving 52 people that day, of which you represent 2 people.

So on average you wouldn't be paying 90% of their wage, you would be paying about 3.8% of their wage, not including their hourly.

You may want to read this......

The narcissist is never, ever wrong, and he likes to present “proof” that he is correct. The narcissist cannot accept responsibility for making a mistake and he is expert at diverting the blame to others – (“It’s not my fault. I lost that promotion because my team let me down”, “You were acting so stupid-you made me hit you.”, “If you weren’t so cold, I wouldn’t have had that affair”). A narcissist will never admit even horrendous mistakes and when confronted, he will deflect, delay and tell more lies. He believes he is invincible and perfect.

When we look deeply into ourselves and know we have been wrong, we are able to say “I make mistakes”. We apologize to the hurt party and continue to have a healthy, solid sense of ourselves as positive human beings. A narcissist is unable to do this as that would require acknowledging that he is not perfect. .

Springs1 - I hope that whomever you work for squeezes every drop out of you before you get paid.........you are a miserable and sadistic human. Your husband must dread coming home every day as he tries to figure out how to cater to your whims of 17 sauces, every third refill is a coke and putting you to bed with a hot loaf of bread..........

I feel sorry for whomever is shacked up with this broad, or dating or whatever unfortunate circumstance has them involved with her in any relationship sort of way.

If dining out is this dangerous can you imagine cooking at home, or holidays with said psycho.. Instant gunny sack filled with large stones and a deep body of water.
