Main team is a part of the system, isn't it? Otherwise, Monahan technically never was in our system either — he was drafted and went right onto the first team. It's technicalities though — my point is that current group of young forwards is the best since we had two young HOF right wings in St.Louis and Iginla along with few other great youngsters such as Stillman and Savard. The difference is — back then we also had some great blueliners (Regehr, Lydman, Morris) and goaltender (Giguere).

Our young/prospect centre depth is looking much better than ever. Not including Horak because of recent winger-ness.

Monahan
Jankowski

His play is right where it should be if he is to become an impact nhlr. Needs to be in the 1ppg ball park and so far he is.

I see him playing year 3 in college and turning pro and hopefully can make the flames for 15/16. That's the year we return to the playoffs and become a contender

Jankowski upside is 2nd line center at best IMO. I think he'll play in the NHL due to his size, but I think he'll top out as a decent third line center.

I don't agree. His upside is 1st line player, something like a Patrick Marleau. Will he reach that full potential...probably not.

Mind you, I have never seen him play live and have a very limited viewing of him through watching a few streams, but I just don't see first line center potential in his play. I could very well be wrong though.

He has all the tools to be a top centreman in the NHL. He has a very unique development so far and it may take time but if it's done right, the flames could have a real star on their hands.

There's lots to like about his play. From what I hear, his speed is supposed to be top notch which is especially impressive for how big a player he is. He developed a lot of his great habits and work ethic because he was actually a short player for a long time who had a huge growth spurt and is still filling into his body. Hopefully he can keep at it and the flames can be a team with size and skill up the middle.

It's nice to see him improving but it's still the NCAA. Not saying he won't make it to the NHL but I think he has a long way to go.

Is he eligible for the World Juniors? I would think so.

Leafs 2012 pick Morgan Reilly made their team it looks like and he's 19 as well. Just as a quick comparison to Jankowski, Reilly is 6'1" and 205 and played for Moose Jaw last season.

Who cares what Reily, a Dman on another team, has done?

Jankowski is a project. That's been stated since day one. At no point has anyone from the organization stated anything to the contrary.

Have some patience.

What has Morgan Rielly have to do with anything?

It was not like the Flames were in a position to pick Rielly in the first place

He's allready 19 though and still in NCAA. So if he plays another year he'll be 20. Plus no real competitive experience like CHL. If you look at Toews and Crosby, they played CHL before coming to the NHL. I'm just saying, with the way the game is now, bigger, faster, stronger, younger. And what some of these players lack they make up for in pure skill.
Let's hope it will pan out though.

I meant to say Patrick Kane who played for London Knights in CHL and not Toews. They both took similar paths though.

Toews never played in the CHL... get your facts straight... two years in the NCAA for Toews. And not sure what your point about him being 20 years old is... lots of NHL players didn't make the jump to professional hockey until they were 20+ years old.

And here I thought Toews played for the University of North Dakota.

And how old was he in his last year there, and he's also won 2 cups allready. Let's not get to crazy here on the expectation side of things. Jankowski will be a very special case if he indeed turns out to be a bonafide 2nd line center.
