Agreed, I don't think there is a reason for him to go pro any time soon. He still needs time to mature and bulk up, plus he seems to be developing at a good rate. We aren't in dire need of him any time soon so it's best to let him get here when he gets here.

On the other hand, if he's ready then he's ready and that would be awesome!

Probably sacreligious at the moment but I think there is a chance he could be better than Monahan. I think he's a more explosive player with better skating and acceleration and he thinks the game close to as well.

Would be the first to admit his floor is way lower than Monahan though and he is at least 2 years away physically, if he fills out and is brought along slowly though the sky is the limit. He, Gaudreau, Poirier and Monahan - honestly can not remember 4 forward prospects in the system this good at the same time ever.

Turning pro doesn't mean jump right to the NHL. I think we could see Jankowski turn pro after his season next year, his third in College. Maybe a year in the AHL then after that.

Not sac religious at all and if anything a oddly common sentiment in the board.

I don't see it and not just because I don't expect much out of Jankowski but I see Monahan having a Toews like top 5 ceiling and Jankowskis ceiling doesn't seem anywhere close to that.

He was drafted by Saginaw but can't imagine he goes that route now and with Feaster and Weisbrod in charge Flames are likely the only team that would want him to stick in NCAA over CHL.

At this point, I don't think anyone would see the benefit in that. He'd only be eligible for the CHL for one more year, and by facing 16-20 year olds compared to 18-24 year olds, he'd have to work less on a big area of weakness- physicality and board work.

And college rocks.

Said by a guy who has admitted to never seeing the guy play. How can you possibly say this stuff when you've never seen him?

Given that the most pressing need in his development is his physical build, I don't think it makes any sense at all to leave the NCAA to go into the OHL. The reduced game load is perfect for a prospect like him that needs to bulk up.

Besides, the higher quality of opposition (though you may disagree) coupled with opposition that are on average substantially larger than the OHL, makes it a no-brainer. I can't see any team thinking his development is better served by jumping to the CHL right now.

I can say it about a ton of guys tat I have never seen play.

When my ceiling for Monahan is top 5 player I am confident saying Jankowski is not reaching that based on the clips, highlights scouting reports I have seen.

Now that he looks like he has matured more physically the game load/rougher games may be what he needs to develop the toughness physical game he will need at the NHL level.

But I do think that any player gets much better development at the CHL level rather than NCCAA level outside if a few midgets line Gaudreau or even an undersized Jankowski early on in his career.

I don't think anyone should claim a thing on Jankowski, He has great natural skills/skating and just needs to fill that tall frame out, I read on another board he's up around 190 now so he's getting there.

And people forget he just turned 19 last month.

I don't think the opinion that he could be better than Monahan is common in the least
