I thought it was because he was the only guy that was actually winning some face offs... Lol
I thought that might be the reason, but if so, that strategy failed miserably. Street lost both of those last two (absolutely key) face-offs cleanly.

It was the best of Flames, it was the worst of Flames.
Lots of hard work; no quit; at times the Flames controlled play with good puck support, smart passes, and pushing the pace; MacDonald made some big saves; etc.
Flames get schooled in the Faceoff circle; bad giveaways lead to goals; lack of finishing on the powerplay; periods pinned in their own end.
Thought Hudler, Colborne, and Backlund had a good game. I really hope some of our D in Abbotsford are ready to jump up soon, need to replace that bottom pairing
The lazy swipe at the puck, point at my linemates to cover his man Glencross -3 and the defensive powerhouse, offensive juggernaut, Ben Street -3.
Butler continues to prove he should be in the press box.
Good effort by 95% of the team. They worked hard and deserved a better final result.

I agree Glencross doesnt fit this team and have said so all year.
He has proven himself to be a top player on this team in the past and has a NMC so Hartley playing him is fine.
By your ruling, Colorne should have seen no ice for sucking in the first 3 games and came out as one of our best young guys tonight.
By my ruling, Colborne deserved to be on the ice much more than Glencross.
Coaches should go with the players that are playing well at the time, not guys that have lead this team nowhere in the past and choose to coast around the ice rather than give an effort.
Glencross has been embarrassing this year and I dont care if he was a top line player in the past`and has a NMC, he looks like a 4th liner this season.

Easily. As bad as the Butler giveaway was, it was also a fluke that the guy picked it out of the air and kept it in.
Brodie's giveaway was giftwrapped and ended up being the difference to a team that the Flames outplayed and outchanced for over half the game. Tough to let those ones slip away.
cant agree
the play by Butler was bang it off the boards and over the line - he chose to throw it towards the center of the ice and then allowed them to make a play to knock it out of the air and take it back
None of the goals against were MacDonald's fault, but a big save on the Salami breakaway would have been huge. Much like Fasth's save on Stempy in close was.

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again... Glencross is a lazy plug. Yup I get it, he'll get you 20-30 goals but that doesn't even come close to making up for the other 50-60 games of hot garbage. He needs to go! I'd much rather see a young guy playing his bag off take his ice time.

This is the kind of lost that won't upset me. The effort was there and they practically dominated the 3rd period. If it wasn't for the Anaheim goalie, Flames would have score at least a goal or two. I like the hustle and I thought Backlund's play is so much different from the past few season. He is feisty and doesn't seem to back down. Jackman was a butthead in taking that penalty. He should thank Stempniak and the rest of PK guys for bailing him out. Hartley should show Butler the video replay of McGrattan's mistake before and his mistake. That way he'll know where NOT throw the puck. I think Big Joe is starting to improve that's why Hartley warranted him with some extra ice time. Now that MacDonald lost a game, I think Hartley will try Ramo again vs San Jose. He seems to ride the hot goalie so Ramo better play well next game.
The Flames were the better team. Can't be too upset with that.
They lost due to some brain cramps, but Fasth played pretty well. Glencross is really annoying me, because he has the talent, but just seems to be in slo-mo right now. Colborne played pretty well, I like that he's getting more confidence. The Ducks didn't impress me at all........how did they get 56 shots in their last game? Love the effort......they don't have the most skilled team in the league, but they don't give up, I love that.
And I have zero problem at all with that whistle near the end when Winnik took a puck to the head. The refs can't see that play and wait for a while before they decide what to do. A puck to the leg or arm is one thing, a puck to the head area is another. No problem with that call at all.

Really liked Sven's all around game tonight. Backlund too. Thought Colborne had his best game as a Flame. Hudler and Giordano were as solid as ever and Kris Russell played really well tonight. I'm thinking we see Ramo next as Joey Mac looked shaky. I'm starting to get tired of watching Glencross. He was one of my favorite Flames for a long time, but he's headed for Bourque territory. Jackman is just taking a roster spot from guys like Horak, Hanowski, and Ferland. Butler is awful. I actually thought O'Brien had a solid game though. Snuck a few shots through that Fasth didn't see until last second.
Overall, can't be too upset. The effort was there. You could say they were the better team from Jackman's penalty on. Regardless of results, if this effort stays, I'll be ok with how this season plays out.
