I realize that feaster & co. Had this guy rated highly, but considering his pre-draft ranking, could we not have made this pick a little later?

Consensus rankings are probably as close as you can get, obviously.
Don't like this pick, you won't convince me otherwise. Hopefully, the Flames are able to develop this player properly... but I'm not holding my breath. We shall see.

Exactly! ... there were opportunities to trade down, as other teams did right in that area... poorly done, says me.
I don't have an issue with the player, as I've never seen him play (sme with the guy at #22) ... but Feaster should have traded down for both of those picks, IMO... definitely this one in question, anyway.

I have said I do not care what they do with the 22 and 28 (meaning going off the board) as long as they take one of Lindholm/Monahan at 6.
Mission accomplished.
More I read and see about Emile, he looks like a pretty good pick. I feel the same way about Klimchuk who also looks promising.
I cannot complain, we will need a couple of years to know if Feaster done us good. Of course nobody actually knows, but I am entertained by the guys acting like they somehow do.

Subban is a 5'8" defenceman. It is very unlikely he becomes a future NHLer.
He was taken in the 4th round for a reason.

will be interesting if the Flames take a goalie this year after all. Both Waterloo guys and the best Euros were selected already (in addition to the Fucales, Comries, Jarrys etc), it seems the best options are all gone by now.
