Game 3 was the first game I thought Iggy played decent. He was back checking and stripping pucks off players and making things happen down low. He looks much more at home on the 3rd line than the second line. He's still struggling in the neutral zone, but even that is better than it was.

Wow its tough to watch sometimes, even though I thought Iggy played well last night, you can see the end of his career in sight. His day as a game breaker is clearly over, he just can't seem to keep up to the play. That ability to drive to the net is completely gone, and he's no longer the same force along the boards that he used to be.

I guess the question now, is if the Pens get bounced out of the playofs, does he take a look in the mirror and say, I can't be that great player anymore and walk away. Or does he possibly make a mistake and keep playing?

There is nothing stopping Iginla from changing his game and continuing to be an effective player for another few years, nothing except his mental game and a refusal to adopt a defensive mindset.

Sure, he's 'slow', but he's a heck of a lot slower when he's gliding vs. when he's pumping his legs. He only pumps his legs going one direction though, up ice for a potential 2-1 or breakaway.

If he put as much effort into coming back into his own zone as he did flying from it, he'd be a much more effective player.

He doesn't want to do that though, he wants his points.

I don't feel too bad for Iggy. He's had a stellar career, made a lot of money, and got to go to a dream situation in Pittsburgh. It looks like the cup dream may not work out but there are a lot of HOF players that didn't win it all in all sports. It just happens and time doesn't wait for anyone and his career is coming close to the end.

I think if anything this raises the question to Flames management that still believed they could build a legitimate contender around the guy. HOLY CRAP YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! This just goes to show just how badly Flames ownership and management miscalculated here and a big red flag going forward.

I like how people in Boston and other US arenas I guess, all stand druing the play. A lot of them stood during all the OT also it looked like

Must be fun being in the first row and deciding to stand to watch the game knowing everyone behind you is going to have to do it too. Wonder if that will fly at the dome?

I think it's a carry-over from the NFL, where the fans stand most of the time. 'Merica loves their pigskin.

He is noticeably a step (to be generous) slower or just thinking to much. In the third period after the Malkin rush where the puck was just barely knocked away by Chara would have been a goal by Iginla in years past. All he had to do was drive to the net. There are flashes but I think it has become quite apparent he is a shadow of what he knew him as.

I also can't see him coming back to Pittsburgh. He wants to play with Crosby and Malkin but I don't think he is a top six player on that team. This off season will be interesting to see what his value is.

I feel for Iginla, but he's just not getting it done. It's not just him - the Bruins are a stifling team. But he seems to get out-battled and/or give the puck away all the time. It could be true, and he might just be too old to get it done anymore.

Very true - they don't need or want him I bet. I can see LA, the perpetual dark horse, because of the Sutter connection; but they don't play a style of game that suits him I don't think.

If he wants to keep playing, he has to change and it's that simple. He's still a phenomenal athlete, but for whatever reason, his ability to make the hockey plays that he used to has vanished. Jagr evolved with age and look how many praises people are throwing on him.
