Why even cheer for LA or Pittsburgh? They aren't my teams. I follow the Flames, and I have a few other teams that I've liked over the years. The presence of ex-Flames has no bearing on which other teams I like.

Cheering for Iginla to win the cup this year means you want the Pens to win, thus a "bandwagon" fan. As the point of my first quote was, pot meet kettle.

There's about as much drama left in this as buying a lottery ticket and waiting for the winning numbers in the newspaper the next day.

They came back down 4-1 though in Game Seven. That rarely if ever happens in that situation.

Bandwagon in cheering for the Pens, but not in cheering for Iggy. Seems a clear difference to me.
Anyways, I wish this had been game 1. This is the type of hockey I had been expecting from this series, but it's going to be too little too late to have a lot of entertainment value as the fat lady has already had her piece with that Bergeron goal.

Odd.

Im cheering for the Bruins...doesnt mean i am cheering against HIM, Im cheering against the team he was traded too because I much prefer the team he is playing against.
Odd logic on your part you see that as turning on Iginla.

Better hope he keeps getting goalpost luck. Rask has been very good, but damn he was lucky this game.

He made 53 saves, allowed ONE goal....and he was "lucky"?
OK then.

I had wanted Pitts to win, but won't be terribly upset if Boston wins. I actually like both teams, just gave the edge to the Pens cause of the Iggy trade.
The big thing is, getting this thread back on topic, I'm surprised how one sided this series has been. I guess the quality of the Pens goaltending has really been shown. And the fact that they aren't the most defensive of teams compounds this problem.
Makes me wonder if either of the western teams even has a chance against the Bruins. On the other hand, they did nearly get beat by Toronto, and the two western teams are hardly slouches.
The NHL really lucked out having such an incredible playoffs this year. I know I wasn't very interested. While admittedly the poor performance of the Flames had the most to do with that, the lockout did have a significant part to do with that, and I know many people, Flames fans and otherwise were feeling the same going into the playoffs.

I think Iginla's kinda getting a bad wrap.
Does he look slow as molasses? Yeah, but he'd old!
He did very well in the Isles series. Then the Pens ran into hot goalies in Anderson/Lehner/Rask...
As a team the Pens haven't really scored goals. Hell I think they are 0 for 12 on the PP this series.
Is this really an Iginla problem or a Crosby/Malkin problem? IMO those guys are the leaders of this team. Iginla is just a spare part nowadays but if nobody else is really doing anything (especially the leaders) I don't think he should be the focus anymore. He's not really that guy anymore...
And I don't think the Pens are as disappointed with him as people are pointing out here. Moreso Crosby and Malkin. They should know what they were getting with Iginla...
I do think Iginla picked the absolute wrong team to go to but rear view is so easy. I think he would have looked and played a lot stronger with the much bigger physical Bruins especially this late in the playoffs. Sad when people are already comparing him to Sundin's attempt to bring a cup, that's not the way he should go out if it happens this way.

After his play recently (he played all right last night) he may have to choose between Edmonton, Winnipeg or Columbus this summer.

Wholeheartedly agree. I started watching the Pens because of Iggy, but everyone seems to agree he's a small part of what's happening now.
The series itself is worth talking about and it's much more than Iggy. Also, it's much more interesting.

I feel the other way around. The Bruins are full marks for being up 3-0 but the Penguins were just awful in the first two games. The Kings give up nothing and IMO are probably the most difficult team in the league to beat in a 7 game series because they never waiver from their game and have (arguably) the best goaltender in the league. If the Hawks beat the Kings I would have to say they are the favorite.

I realize he was annoying and he was technically proven wrong but, as much, as I hate to say it, seems like he was right and Shero made a mistake.

The Pens haven't scored many goals. Ran into a hot Anderson/Lehner/Nabokov? They lit up those three goalies. Not sure what you're watching.
Even after scoring only two goals in three games against the Bruins, they're still leading the NHL with 49 goals this playoffs. That's 3.5 goals per game.
They can't be higher than #1.

I know this series isn't over, but does the fact that Boston is probably going to win, and so easily at that, make anyone else even more mad Iggy didn't take the Boston trade.
He made a really bad decision for everyone, the Flames got a worse trade, and he gave himself less of a chance at the cup. Obviously it's all hindsight, but it makes me more annoyed.

Way back in the NYI series I compared this years Pitts team to the '07 Sabres.
Man has that ever stayed consistent.

I was a little more bitter about the whole thing after attending the STH meeting last week. The Flames spent the better part of a day trying to sell Iggy on Boston. At the end of the day Iggy said "If I decide to go to Boston and Pittsburgh wins the cup I will never forgive myself". He chose Pitt and the Flames took a bit of a beating by the national media for how the whole thing went down.
I still want the Pens to win but am not feeling sad that they are down 3-0 and have no problem rooting for Boston when they win due to their 2011 heroics.

The Bruins "to this point" have been the FAR better team. They deserve to be up 3-0 and will likely kill the Pens in 4 games.
Iginla looks like the same old Iginla we have seen the last 2 or 3 years in Calgary. A spare part that has lost a step and if he manages to be "in the right spot at the right time" can still put up some points. Problem is he is simply too slow for the game now. Im glad the Bruins didnt get him.
Rask is a monster in net and looks eerily like Ken Dryden way back in the 70s...very calm cool and collected. Never seems to get fazed. Toronto got supremely hosed in that deal. Glad Boston is paying them back for the times that the Leafs soaked the Flames in deals.

I'm not sure I can really cheer for the Bruins, as they put out the Leafs (who I thought were really entertaining) and they're about to put out the Pens (who are really entertaining), but I could cheer for them to beat the Hawks. For some reason I just can't like the Hawks. As damn good as they are, they seem like a whole team of ######s.
Of all the final four, I would like to see the Pens as number one (because of Iggy), the Kings number two (because of Sutter) and the Bruins over the Hawks because I just don't like them.

I'm cheering for Boston so our Pittsburgh pick is higher, even if it's one spot higher, i want that. I am a Flames fan first, Iginla second.
