Obviously all I'm saying is that if we're dealing our franchise player and #1Dman, we should be getting at least a B level prospect for both Iggy and Jay.

The fact that we traded Bouw and his entire salary makes this trade very solid from our perspective. Getting a 1st, and 2 decent prospects (I like Cundari but haven't followed him this year) is a great return
To get a 1st back I would have expected that we would have had to keep at least $2 in salary

Why are we excited at cap space when there isn't much in the way of UFA's that could be considered impact players, and the cost on the RFA's is going to be hugely high if there are any left

Mark Cundari, D, 22
Mark Cundari could quite possibly be the best defensemen in the Blues' minor league system. Cundari had a stellar junior performance with the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, and after he was signed as a free agent by the Blues, he was an instant success at the AHL level with the Rivermen in 2010-11. In 69 games played in his rookie season, Cundari had 10 goals and 30 points with a plus-6 rating.
He was limited to 48 games in 2011-12 but showed the consistencies in his game. This season, Cundari leads all Rivermen defensemen in points, with three goals and 20 points in 39 games. With the departure of Ian Cole, Cundari has stepped up in a big way for the Rivermen, and will continue to log the big-minutes in the AHL.

Hey Feaster since you are giving away our players for nothing, why don't you trade Cammy, Tanguay, Giordano, Kipper for hockey pucks.
It sucks..i have never been this ticked off as a Flame fan.

But it isn't last year, so value of an asset is also based on current play.
RFA - you tend to overpay, trying to scare teams with loaded contracts (which ultimately penalizes your team as well) and you have to give up draft picks as compensation

Really key point. The Flames desperately need to find a quality young goalie if they're going to be good anytime soon, and it's almost impossible to project who will succeed in the NHL. You need to increase the odds that one comes through.

This is going to be an interesting off-season. I think there are going to be a lot of teams looking to deal players at the draft to get under the salary cap. You might be able to swap a 1st for a good player and a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Cap space might be more valuable this year then any other year. I don't see the ownership in calgary not spending to the cap fairly quickly.

Don't know anything about the prospects, but I will say one thing.............draft day this summer is going to be the best draft day for Flames fans to watch in a long time, probably ever.

He's not coming back and probably not in the plans.
I'm not sure if I would want him back

Just shocked at management not giving the green light for keeping some of the salary. This deal would have looked a lot better from our perspective if we took even 2M from Bouwmeester's caphit and got St. Louis to add value. Now they'll have to make some sort of separate deal in getting back down.
At this point we can only cheer for the prospects we've gotten and look forward to draft day but this management has left me feeling completely devoid of any confidence in them.

St Louis has to re-sign a ton of players next year. Some are in for huge pay days.
RFA - Chris Stewart, Patrik Berglund, Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk, Ian Cole and Kris Russell.
UFA - Andy McDonald, Jamie Langenbrunner, Scott Nichol, Jordan Leopold and Wade Redden.
