If the info is correct, the value depends largely on the Russian kid. We know what a low first-rounder is. If the kid is really good, then it's probably a decent deal. No one was going to trade their best prospects.

I hope Feaster includes a Bryan Cameron or Gaelan Patterson. It'd be valuable to gain a contract spot. Or maybe even a 2nd or 3rd rounder as well.

before everyone gets even more fired up: a HF piece about Bartkowski - http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...in-providence/
surely the "3rd" piece in the trade, not the centerpiece ... he's the throw in to Koko and the 1st in my opinion. I don't see it that negatively. If they can get rid of Sarich and Babchuk, is getting Bartkowski for the 3rd pairing such a bad idea? I don't think so. Still pretty young too.

This mess, and the fact it even got to this point, is on Sutter as well. It will be a small consolation that at least his new team isn't going to benefit from it.
Having said that, I would take Bernier straight up over this Boston deal.

They should announce the trade before the game.
Give these guys a break.

Maybe the Flames have a trade lined up a D-man, which means someone is getting called up from Abby. Maybe they wanted Bartowski to fill in that spot?

The worst part about the first round pick is that as a Flames fan I want it to be as high as possible in the draft, but in order for that to happen, it would have to come at the expense of Iggy winning a cup in Boston, which is another thing that I really want as a Flames fan.

The team better not be stupid and start flipping other players right away - stempniak etc to make sure they get firmly into the lottery pick position.

Announce it during the game so the fans know when to give out one last "Iggy" chant on TV.

I'm looking forward to two things during the post-trade press conference:
1) Feaster telling us how "Bartkowski is a kid we've had on our radar for a long time"
2) Someone asking "Where do you go from here Jarome?" and he replies "Boston"

Maybe we'll get lucky and Bartkowski being scratched means he's going to Edm for Whitney.

1st + Khokhlachev sounds exactly like the kind of pieces we should have expected. Bartkowski is the weird piece that doesn't seem particularly intriguing, but you'd guess that he's a Weisbrod guy and so you give it the benefit of the doubt. JW does seem to know the Bruins organization well, having great success as their Director of College Scouting--a role he occupied when Bartkowski was playing at Ohio State.
