I wonder what sort of return we could expect from Iginla this year?
I think we're dreaming if we expect a similar return as we may have gotten a few years ago (3 to 4 solid pieces).
As of now if a team offered up a first rounder and a solid prospect/player we would have to consider it, as that might be Iginla's ceiling.
I still don't see Iginla being traded, but if he does I just want to temper my expectations in advance.
Trade Iginla to Boston, and Kiprusoff to Philly, or maybe Toronto. Those two are realistically our only two tradeable players not signed long-term that will get us any value back. If Feaster can get 4-5 pieces back I would be pretty happy with that return.

Trade deadline is the silly season, it's so unpredictable. If Iginla gets hot for ten games before, and you get two-three teams interested you could easily get a solid prospect.
Then again I could easily see it just being a late first rounder.

Once again I don't want to get my expectations too high, but if Paul Gaustad is worth a 1st rounder, you would have to think Iginla is worth more (even if they play a different game).
Peter Forsberg was going into free agency in 2007 and look what Nashville was willing to give up for him; Upshall, Parent, a 1st, and a 3rd. Once again different players of course, but even then Forsberg was damaged goods. After playing 22 games for the Preds, Forsberg signed back in Colorado and played all of 11 more regular season games (and one playoff round).
At least Iginla is always healthy, and brings a solid veteran influence to any team that acquires him.
In conclusion maybe we should see what the Predators would offer for a stud like Iggy!

I can't see why Boston would want Iginla, they clearly don't need his scoring, nor are they 'one piece short of a cup', they already have a high scoring proven cup winner.

This is the problem if he is to be traded at the deadline. If he stands at 5-10 goals at +30 games, how are teams supposed to see him as a real value-adding asset? Yeah, you can always look at past seasons and expect him to get passed his early season slump but this kind of uncertainty will most definately bring down his value.
He is 36, at some point you start running out of guarantees that "heŽll be fine" later on.

No, he's ONLY 36 and still has lots left in the tank. Teams will line up to give us multiple first rounders and then he'll re-sign in next year and we'll win the cup for sure.....
Too many fans are becoming more and more like leaf fans, always thinking things can turn around for no reason or that the team they have is great because they've formed a bond with them for some reason or another. We over value most players on this team and think that this team is like wine and gets better with age. Our best players are getting older and if you look at their stats they aren't getting better. I do hope they trade Iggy but I still think we'd be far from the playoffs even if we got Crosby for him.

Follow the leader? That guy wears #24 now. Time for everyone to realize that. Players come and go. Let's not rely on fading name power to carry the Flames.

The time to move him might be right now. Before his annual slow starts turns into a bad year overall. An early shakeup trade with the Caps?

It is becoming a real pet peeve when people add a year to both Iggy and Kipper. At no point during this hockey season will Iggy be 36 or Kipper be 37

Boston = Cup contenders
Boston + Iginla = Cup Favorites
Lucic - Kreijci - Seguin
Horton - Bergeron - Iginla
Marchand - Kelly - Peverly
Paille - Cambell - Thornton
That lineup looks amazing

Warrener and the boys were pretty hard on Iggy this morning going as far to say that if Iginla was eliminated from the lineup the team wouldn't be any worse. Usually when the scrutiny heats up so does Iggy's play so hopefully he starts getting his game as that would help twofold in that the team needs their best players to play better and it can only help his trade value.

I listened to that conversation on 960 this morning and was surprised at the candid and honest opinions. I agree with them whole-heatedly but wasn't expecting it.
I don't think they were being hard on Iginla; all of their takes were appropriate.
There is nothing more that I want to see than the Flames and Iginla win a cup. At this point, I believe the reality is this is mutually exclusive and that both parties have the best shot at winning a cup sooner if they part ways.
I feel as though the problem is both parties are being generous with each other and neither is being selfish.

The big point they made, that is a valid one, is if you take Iginla out of the line-up are the Flames better, worse, or the same.
They certainly are at worst - the same.
He simply isn't impacting games in a positive way right now.
Either way - time to move on from the #12 era.

Do you guys honestly think that the teams are only going to value Iginla for what he does right before the trade deadline? Whoever may be interested is poking around right now and they know what it will cost, have known what it will cost for a while and will pay what it costs if and when the time comes....and no matter how much you think he sucks right now, he will get more than a "solid prospect" in return.
The only way he doesn't is if Feaster frigs it up....which is possible but unlikely with this one.

It will be sad if it takes the fan base turning on iginla to prompt a move from management.
They've made their bed though.

Wow...serious. After 8 games or whatever the "leader" is Hudler?
Glad your not my boss.
