Maybe for the Pits deal, but I think NJ is too high on Henrique to trade him for a declining Iginla.

Right now i'd like to see the following players traded:

Tanguay
Glencross
Butler
Comeau
Cammellari
Gio

The reason why Gio is even in that list is that he's playing like a dime a dozen d-man. Flames can probably package him with any of the other names mentioned and get a half decent return back.

Iggy's really not the problem and probably not a solution with a trade. That first line really is just Iggy and no supporting casts at all. Glencross is really a 3rd line shooter that gets hot once in a while and Tanguay is a fricken lazy 2nd line floater at best. What a fricken shame that the Flames plugs in lazy-arse players with a top end player like Iggy and call it their #1 line for all these years!

I would Keep Glenx he is still insane value for his contract. The guy is only making 2.5 mill. Other hockey fans foam at the mouth thinking about getting him. He offers quite a bit for what he makes although the expectation around here seems to be that he should play like Tanguay and vintage Cammy even though hes getting half the money.

I would trade Iggy because I do still think there is at least a pick and a prospect in there some where for him and he deserves to win a cup and not have to be THE guy anymore. Its better for us and for his mental health to leave. It must be heart breaking for him to have the same fans who used to love him slowly turn on him for getting old.

Glencross isn't getting traded, he won't waive his NTC. It's really not worth discussing him in trades.

Iginla to Pittsburgh seems like the logical destination.

Expect Bennett and a pick in return I guess.

Yeah they want a guy who's on pace to score 5 goals this year. Man I can just see every team drooling with the idea of giving up a 3rd round pick.

Iginla's always been a slow starter, he'll be fine.

Yeah I guess he'll hit full steam around the 56th game right.

I think trading Iginla or choosing not to resign him would be "Addition by Subtraction"

Iginla eats up valuable forward minutes. He has played the most forward minutes of out all forwards in every game except for tonight. Hudler played a few more seconds than him tonight. The first time all year.

How are we ever going to develop Backlund & Baertschi and Gudreau if they get relegated to 2nd or 3rd line just so Iginla can continue to play on the 1st line?

No there's only 48 games this year magicpixels. He'll pick it up within the next ten games or so (I hope).

I'd like to trade Gio as well as I think his value is still quite high and won't be after the season is over.

I think we could get a first rounder for him right now.

I would suspect if they can get any sort of bidding war going that they would get more than that unless the pick is a 1st. But I would take Bennett and a 1st just to try to start rebuilding the system. They still have a chance to shorten the rebuild period if they do it this year, if they wait much longer they are definitely on the Oilers rebuild path where by the time they rebuild they have no assets of any value to trade anyway.

Unfortunately, there will come a day when "slow starting Iginla" becomes just "Iginla".

Hopefully we have someone else ready to take over when it happens.

It's probably happened now. He's 36.

We have to stop blaming Iginla we don't have a heir apparent. He isn't the player he was. No one at that age ever is.

Only one I can think of in modern times is Sellane. He had a 94 pt season with 48 goals at 36 Legen-dary.

Always exceptions to every rule!

I think Iginla's age just crept up on people. He shouldn't be on our first line, he shouldn't be our premier player any longer. None of that is his fault that he still is.
