Colts fans are lucky to have watched Manning for so many years, and now when he's 36 they get possibly the best QB prospect since Manning to take his place
Some teams have never had a chance to have an elite, classy, team leading QB. The Colts are going from the best, to possibly the next best

I'm 25 years old and being a Colts fan I got to watch Jim Harbaugh lead them to the AFC Championship, then draft Peyton Manning, watch him for a decade plus and now Andrew Luck. Truly spoiled fan base, especially when this is more of a QB driven league then ever before. It's very similar to having an elite goaltender in the NHL, you take it for granted until you watch other teams go from goalie to goalie. I would have loved to have seen Peyton finish his career up as a Colt, but if he was going to get injured for a season, the Colts were very "lucky" it was this one.
Will be nice to watch Luck and this team develop over the next few seasons, while cheering on the Broncos and Peyton towards another Superbowl appearance.

I have a hard time believing that as well, I think that Chicago was the first team to pay within Ross' estimated asking price.
Apparently, protecting team morale doesn't include getting rid of a guy who was arrested and charged with aggravated battery on his pregnant girlfriend (Merling), a guy who was arrested and suspended for getting in a physical altercation with his girlfriend (McDaniel) or a guy who hit an on-foot cop with his car (Starks).

You could make the same, or longer, list with every team in the NFL. None of that has to do with 'team morale' if it doesn't seep into the locker room.

New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco agreed to restructure his contract for the coming season, lowering his base salary to $1 million from the $3 million he had been scheduled to earn, according to a league source.
Im amazed the Pats actually kept him...but good on the Chad

ya I think all he cares about with winning at this point so good for him
I think the Pats are hoping that a full offseason might actually give him enough time to learn the system and play calls, I heard on Simmons podcast Eric Mangini saying that Pats system is extremely difficult to learn for skill position guys, he was sort of downplaying the Lloyd move because he just doesn't know if the guy will be able to know the system like Welker, Branch etc. have been able too

Love the signing of former Falcons MLB Curtis Lofton to the Saints. I guess if you can't beat em, join em.
Details of the deal are yet to be disclosed, but with the Saints only sitting $1.8M under the cap before the signing, you'd think a vet will be released soon. It certainly won't keep me up if Shanle gets the axe.
And I don't care what Loomis or anyone within the Saints org says, the fact its a 5 year deal certainly shows the Saints are thinking post-Vilma.

Ugh. I'm a huge Falcons fan and this hurts bad.
So now we've downgraded from Loften to a Lofa Tatupu who is the shell of what he once was...
This sucks the big one. Eff you New Orleans!

Ochocinco is just not a good wide receiver anymore. Brady wouldn't even look at him on the field last season and now the Patriots have even more depth at the position which means he's going to be all but forgotten halfway through next season. He's lucky New England wanted him back if he took that pay cut because let's be honest, there would be a pretty small market for him as a free agent now. I'm really excited to see a healthy Anthony Gonzalez as a Patriot this year however.

Sean Payton is reportedly reaching out to Bill Parcells on the possibility of him coaching the Saints this season. Parcells has made no indication he's interested, but the 2 are planning to meet in Florida this week. Payton was an assistant under Parcells in Dallas prior to becoming an HC.
Surprising news, but it makes sense, as Parcells was a mentor to Payton, who mirrors a lot of Bill's qualities as a coach. I was kind of hoping Carmichael would get a chance, but at the same time, I hear he's a quieter guy, and may be more suited to just focus on calling plays. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Nothing looks greater than that fat idiot Sapp now getting a nice lawsuit against him.
Quote:
Five days after the NFL put analyst Warren Sapp on NFL Network to declare that former Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey blew the whistle on the team’s three-year bounty system, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said on NFL Network that Shockey isn’t the whistleblower.
The comments came during a press conference held in connection with the annual league meetings.
Per multiple Twitter accounts of reporters who were covering the press conference, Goodell also took issue with Sapp’s use of the word “snitch” to describe the whistleblower.

Cowboys @ Giants for the Wednesday night opening game this year.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Bad news for Cowboys: As @NFLfootballinfo points out, defending Super-Bowl champ is 8-0 hosting kickoff game since games started in 2004.

Someone will have to explain how the Cowboys have earned the right to open the season on the biggest night other than playoffs. Compared to previous season debuts, its an atrocity.
God i cannot stand the pandering that pathetic franchise receives.

It obviously wasn't going to happen, but as a broncos fan I would have liked to see Manning vs Manning, it would be a big return for Payton.
The Coyboys are the last team I'd want to watch on opening night

Stealers/Denver to be the Sunday night game in Week 1?
Quote:
The Broncos have received word there is a strong chance they will play their season opener Sept. 9 on NBC's "Sunday Night Football."
The possible season-opening opponent: the Pittsburgh Steelers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High — the league might not want another Denver home opponent, the New Orleans Saints, showcased in Week 1 because of their bounty scandal — or the New England Patriots on the road.
