WiFi iPad has no GPS, I presume that's what you are using?

No, 3g iPad. When I go into the reminder the same way as on my iPhone 4, the option to remind by location doesn't show up.

Is there a way you can change they type of reminder? On my wife's 4 the default way didn't allow for location reminders, but I changed the type to something different and they worked. Sorry, I realize how useless those directions are.

I got 4S' for both of my parents.

Surprised when I started using Siri and she apparentely isn't capable of even telling me the time because I am in Canada. Seems that being in Canada negates huge chunks of her functionality. She can't give me directions, tell me the time, anything to do with location, etc.

Time works in Canada, Weather works etc...Only directions+local searches do not as of now

^ Time doesn't work for me. It says "I have no idea what time it is in (my current location). Sorry about that."

I wonder if I need to disable location services for Siri as it doesn't seem to have any benefit right now.

Edit: Yep - that did it. Disabled location services for Siri and she can now tell the time. Phew.

First say What time is it in Calgary, then afterwards you can use what time is it.
(I think it catches on..)
But for times do What time is it in X, but then as you see in the image above i can say "what time is it"

It's curious why you can say "what's the weather like today?" and it pulls your location, but you can't say "what time is it?". As mentioned you just need to say "what time is it in calgary" for it to work, but it's still curious.

I'm really happy that find my friends works in siri to. Finding my wife used to be an annoying set of steps where I had to locate the find my iPhone app, enter my password (and username for some ridiculous reason) then select my wife's phone from the list. Now a simple "find my wife" is all I need.

I had a problem getting Siri to make a call for me because it couldn't connect to the network. If that happens again I'll be shutting it off. All the stuff it can do is cool, but if I can't make a call while I'm driving then it's doing more harm than good.

So will Siri eventually work better in Canada?

I didn't know anything about it but turned it on and asked "Where am I" and it had no idea. I asked "What time is it" and it didn't know.

Those are two pretty basic ones... Seems kinda useless so far. =(

My iphone just went a little crazy for like an hour. screen kept shaking with Siri popping up and down anytime I'd touch my phone. Anything I'd touch Siri would say out loud what I touched.

It's workig again but anyone know why that happened?

Probably not. There's a very good chance that it's only going to work in the U.S., the Asia-Pacific rim, and all of Europe.

Personally I think it will work in Canada....can't see local searches and using google maps for directions hard to implement?

Yes, international rollout is planned for 2012. There are a few limitations, but just because it can't do location based services at the moment doesn't mean it's useless. Location services are important, but they are just one item we have to wait on. It does plenty of other things.

This is the problem with releasing a beta. If this is the first iteration I'm incredibly impressed. It isn't perfect by a long shot, but for a first try it's highly useful.

Has anybody that reserved a phone through Fido actually received it yet? I've been stuck "In Progress" for over a week now.

So I managed to get my 4s late last week from Fido. So far I am quite impressed. Migrating from a 3G makes the speed seem simply incredible. The ability to multitask, something that most of you probably take for granted, is also quite nice. I can now listen to Tunein Radio and check my email without exiting the app and stopping playback. It's the little things...

Siri seems like it has a lot of potential, particularly while driving and making a call or sending a quick text. She'll actually read out new, received text messages for you as well. Otherwise, I honestly don't find it that useful (beyond the novelty factor) while not driving, as I can read the time, weather, email, texts, etc. faster by doing it manually. It will be nice when some of the location-based features work in Canada though.

I received mine on Thursday from Fido. I was initially 500 or so on the queue, and then it went to "in progress" right on the release date. And then I got a call late Wednesday right before closing that it was in. So I was "in progress for about a week" too.

My sister was at 2500 or so and has been slowly working her way down, and she is now "in progress" and has been for a few days.
