I fully plan on indoctrinating my kids to be Flames fans regardless of where I end up raising children.

It's official: Saskatchewan is the new Alberta.

According to the second annual FP/CFIB ranking of Canada's top business-friendly cities, Saskatchewan and Quebec have the largest number of cities at the top of the list, while the post-boom cities of British Columbia and Alberta, along with those in Ontario, dropped significantly in the rankings from lower commodity prices and faltering economies.
So to all you calling Saskatchewan a horrible hole to live in and that it sucks and is nothing more than an Alberta-wannabe: like I said, Albertans are arrogant enough to believe that Alberta is still doing better than Saskatchewan as a province, and ignorant enough to ignore the facts. This thread continues to showcase this arrogance and ignorance.

Am I calling Albertans bad things, such as arrogant and ignorant? Yes. But at least I have something to back my statements up rather than stupid jokes.

Plus, Cecil's got a point. Everyone in the East thinks Westerners are a bunch of hicks, and I imagine would laugh extra hard at Albertans for thinking they're any better than those from Saskatchewan.

I don't think Albertans are arrogant because we think we're doing better than anyone else. We're arrogant because we have no PST and no debt (Stelmach pending)....but most importantly, a crapload of oil.

Fair enough, but it seems that a lot of Albertans are oblivious to the fact that Saskatchewan's economy has surpassed Alberta's. (judging from this thread, anyway.)

Yes, the crime rate is still higher in Sask. But it's decreasing, but it will take time as the problems some Sask citizens won't go away quickly. I have to think, though, that a strong economy will only help the province overall, including decreasing this high crime rate.

as someone who grew up in the Okanagan and who travels back to BC regularly, the reason i hate Saskatchewan is because inevitably i'll end up stuck behind some green plated vehicle in the mountains, driven by some white knuckled Rider fan who slows to a crawl through every little turn, then floors it to 140 when a passing lane finally appears and the road widens. my road rage starts to equal 4x4 following a car doing 60 in the left lane on Deerfoot during those instances

It is solely for this reason that I am dreading the drive to Kelowna this weekend.

It is totally in your head. Violent crime can happen in a centre of any size.

Equally true is that it's just in people's heads that being in Saskatchewan cities means they are going to be assaulted/have a crime committed against them.

Sure, the statistics say that the highest crime rate in Canada is in Saskatchewan. But you can twist statistics to say pretty much anything you want; it's the first thing they'll tell you in any stats class!

I've lived in Saskatchewan my whole life, and I've never been assaulted/robbed on the street. I've heard of stories, yes, but everyone has.

Haha, yes stats can be twisted, but the fact that saskatchewan has the highest crime rate in the whole country is definitly relevant, and can't just be brushed off as "Well, statistics can be twisted to say anything you want".

I didn't say it was irrelevant, although I can see how it's insinuated. My point still stands though!

That's great. And I hope you never get accosted, robbed or sexually assaulted. I wasn't even talking about the crime rate in Saskatchewan. Only that those things happen to people if you're in Toronto, Calgary or Estevan.

Ahhh even when you point out the clear numbers/stats people get upset.

(But still a valid point, statistics can certainly be twisted.)

Saskatchewan is a violent place:
http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Ch...978/story.html

Just this week, Regina and Saskatoon were named the two most violent cities in the country!

Alberta lives in BC's shadow, this is fact.

You guys are British Columbia's door mat, everyone has to wipe their feet in Alberta before entering the purity of BC.

Go Canucks!

Alberta just lays awake at night wishing they had a real NHL hockey team, instead of this AHL fodder led by a bunch of inbred hicks from Rural Saskatchewan/Alberta.

All praise the power of BC!
