The gaming industry is hurting for the first time ever, it's only two options seem to be cutesy games, or keep re-hashing itself. It's strange to think that the current generation of consoles may be the end of the line for the console wars. There are no new consoles in development, which is really bizarre considering that the PS3 was in development pretty much as soon as the PS2 hit the stores.
Heh, maybe gaming will swing back to PCs after all. That would be awesome.

Slight fix to your post there
After looking at what Sony is offering PSN plus for I'm really wondering how many people would pay $50-$60 for that. Exclusive demos and free games ... wasn't that what Core was (at $20/year)? It doesn't really seem like they've added anything to the usage of the PSN, just offering up packs of DLC. I have to imagine that my $50 might go farther if I bought 5 PSN games over the year.
Well I just got up about an hour ago so I missed the conferences but it sounded like Nintendo had a pretty good one.
I am definitely buying a handheld now, and it isn't a PSP, it is a Nintendo 3DS, and it is because of Ocarina of Time remake. I haven't owned a handheld since Gameboy colour!
I am so stoked to be going back to play that game.
Well, with PC's hooking up to your TV becoming pretty commonplace and a lot of the new features involving controlling games through motion, camera, infrared, bluetooth or some combination of those, these lines potentially start to become really blurry.
edit: and many console games relying heavily on online play too...
PS3 related:
Looks like some AAA games will have PS3-only content, Mafia 2 and AC2 will both have exclusive missions only available on the PS3.
Gears of War 3:
Beast Mode is like horde, but now you're the locust! You start off playing as a normal locust trying to kill COG's and the more you kill the more "tokens" you'll get which is used to unlock better Locusts (like from a grunt, to a big Berserker).
According to IGN, Kinect only works when you're not sitting down.
So always those cool techniques to move around the dashboard are essentially useless. And the potentially cool applications for use in controller based games (ie; mini games or puzzles where you could switch from controller to Kinect input) aren't really possible either.
Who likes their Forza standing in the middle of their living room?

I don't know if I like the 3D look of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. There's something beautiful and awesome about 2D sprites that I don't think 3D will ever be able to replace. I can't really describe it, it's the same feeling I get when watching a CGI animated movie vs. a hand drawn one. The chracters just seem more lively and fluid in 2D. I think for a game based on comic book characters, 2D would have been the way to go.
