Yeah but that's ESPN!

Except it was Martin Tyler and Efan Ekoku. Tyler is pretty much the best around, and Ekoku is a BBC EPL commentator.

Wow, that's pretty impressive from ESPN. I thought it would be crap Tommy Smyth or someone like that. I've always liked Martin Tyler. It wouldn't be his job to correct his analyst going crazy though. I've never heard Ekoku.

Yeah, I was surprised they didn't throw some terrible US announcers on it too, they hired Derek Rae as well and a few other experienced guys from the UK. For me it's not the accent, or even knowledge of the game, it's the fact that the British guys seem to know when to shut up an let the game speak for itself.

No clue why Malouda didn't start, or why Domenech never went to 2 strikers with 20 minutes left

guess there were too many scorpios or virgos on the field at the time

I posted earlier in this thread and I thought all 5 matches on the first 2 days could be draws.

The first team to win in this WC will be Slovenia

Looking at it from my perspective Domenech and France really dropped the ball, I know its only one game, but this one was on a platter for them.

21 of the 23 Uruguayans were playing in their first World Cup and it showed, they were nervous as hell and Forlan and Suarez were fighting all game, producing nothing, Suarez was offside practically the whole game and the one time they actually worked together Forlan lashed it wide, and they played with 10 men for over 10 minutes.

Essentially the Uruguay points were there for the pillaging, how much more could France have possibly asked for to go their way?

Its only one game, but generally speaking 5 points in the group stage gets you to the round of 16, an early win puts you on the right path.

I'm looking forward to the Argentina/Nigeria game tomorrow, Nigeria has a better chance at a win there than most people think in my opinion.

England/USA will be entertaining for the spectacle, but I'd wager the actual play will likely be pretty poor.

Woooooooooooooo Korea 1-0!!! If they keep this up, they'll easily go all the way.

South Korea could easily be up 3-0. Greece is extremely lucky to only be down 1-0.

Pretty much as I expected from Korea - lots of possession and build-up with their standard lack of finish. Got one heck of a gift on the first goal as the defense was horrid! Park Chu-young also had an amazing chance in clear but once again lacked finish.

This game is theirs if they can continue to force the Greeks into mistakes with their pressure coverage and not to have any severe breakdowns of their own.

Saw nothing positive for the Greeks.

I'm not the biggest soccer fan. I followed the EPL like crazy when I was travelling SE Asia and know the league semi-well, not much else. I've watched the World Cup as a casual follower and this year have done my homework and am right into it.

With that said, I feel qualified enough to say- Holy crap is Greece ever awful so far. Fighting amongst themselves, sloppy passing, complete lack of hustle. What a embarrassing performance by them today.

Also, if South Korea had any kind of playmaking ability they would be one hell of a team. They are adept at causing turnovers and getting the ball up the field but when it comes to getting the ball at the goal they seem to struggle. I'd love to see them get out of the group stage though, I'm looking forward to their games against Nigeria/Argentina.

2nd goal the Greeks should have hacked Park outside the box. They were too slow to do even that!

Must suck for your World Cup hopes when less than an hour into the tournament you have three players standing around in midfield waving their arms and yelling at each other.

Korea dominated by default. What an embarrassment for the Greeks.

CBC's pregame, post-game, and half-time coverage is brutal.

Apparently Diego Milito not good enough to start for Diego Maradona, go figure.

Should be one hell of a game.
