Shots towards the goal in the first half - 6-1 in favour of France.
Actual shots on goal in the first half - 1-1.

There you go. It can't really be Uruguay without a red card.
The world is back to normal.

France really sucked that game. Sure, they dominated a lot of it but Uruguay played like crap. Little ball control and very little in the way of attack. Dull is the best word for it.
Should have gotten the linesman from the first game who made that spot-on offside call for this one, especially when Lloris clearly walks the ball into touch, that should have been a corner.
France isnt going to do well in this tournament, they'll probably advance from the group stage due to being a weak group, but they are a very weak team again, you could tell that the two centre backs crumbled under even the tiniest Uruguayan pressure, a good team is going to tear them apart.
A team with Patrice Evra as Captain isnt going to go far, he should have sent off a couple of times, but he brings that Manchester mentality, every time he lost a tackle, which was often, he'd just foul the player afterwards.
Very lame, but totally stoked for tomorrow!

I really do appreciate the global nature of the world cup and what it means to so many nations.... so I'm trying to give it an honest go this time around. That said, that was a boring, boring game. I know that most of the matches won't be like that... but jeez.
3-3 were the shots on goal over the course of 90 minutes. Hopefully tomorrow's games will be better! That USA-England match seems to have a lot of hype around it..

France-Uruguay had the potential to be a marvellous game with a lot of skill but from the bits and pieces I saw, both teams sat back way too much.

Probably not a good idea if I was in Brazil, but should be a problem here.

You don't have much to worry about. Brazilians are friendly. If you watched it in some small town in Brazil in public and antagonized the Brazilians if they were losing, you might have an issue. In Calgary, no problem.

Ballsy pick, but I like it. I think Nigeria will have the advantage of homefield and physicality, but we should be in for a treat.
How many dives does Arg. take tomorrow? The line starts a 6 and pays1.35...

I find that when the first match of a group is a draw the 2nd match becomes very nervy. Because if you lose, you're all of a sudden alone in last place. A draw at least keeps everyone equal again so teams are cautious and don't want to go kamakaze.
So both teams were either very nervous or just plain suck. We'll find out in the coming matches.

Of course France couldn't score - they weren't allowed to use their hands!

BTW Vanflamesfan, I just watched the ESPN feed and the color commentator was livid at the offside call, he apparently had no idea about the rule either. So even people paid to analyze the game didn't know the rule.

Well, not the greatest day in football, but it should only get better from here. We'll see how the World Champs do on Monday.
