I have played soccer for most of my life, and I bet that the majority of players don't know that part of the offside rule. More than 99% of the time you can simply say "last defender" and be correct, and the only time you'd be wrong is in a situation like that one, or if the keeper is playing up in the late stages of a game.

South Africa is playing a pretty composed counter-attack game right now. Very impressive for such a low ranked team.

I'm a bit surprised no penalty kick for RSA there... home advantage and all.

Unlucky not to get the call on that one. Very close to a penalty.

I haven't played formally organized soccer since I was 10, and yet I know that rule. Weird. Maybe I play too much FIFA.

I appreciate that SA wasn't playing a defensive shell, but there were 3 Mexicans alone in front of the net. Crappy.

My CBC works again. Too bad Mexico equalized, but a draw is still a good result.

Wow awful defending...Any of three could have scored.
