A perfect game is darn special but I think this will actually find it's own little place in baseball history. It's pretty cool to see how all those involved handled it and is an excellent tale in sportsmanship.
People will be talking about it decades from now in a positive way.

CBC beats TSN to the punch with "Top 10 blown calls," including:
The Flames were one win away from clinching the Stanley Cup on home ice in Game 6 of the 2004 final when Calgary's Martin Gelinas appeared to snap a 2-2 tie in the third period. At least one angle showed the puck crossed the goal-line before Tampa Bay goalie Nikolai Khabibulin brought it back, but the play was never reviewed. The Lightning went on to win 3-2 in double overtime and capture the Cup back in Tampa in Game 7.

Umpire Jim Joyce wiped away tears as he took the field on Thursday, a day after his blown call cost Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga a perfect game.
|
Quote:
Joyce and Galarraga met at home plate Thursday afternoon as the pitcher presented the umpire with the Tigers' lineup card. Joyce shook hands with Galarraga and clapped him on the shoulder.
|
Quote:
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said MLB gave Joyce the option to not work Thursday's game, but Joyce chose to stick with his job behind the plate.
|
Quote:
Joyce asked for a chance to personally apologize after the Tigers beat the Indians 3-0, which Galarraga appreciated.
"You don't see an umpire after the game come out and say, 'Hey, let me tell you I'm sorry,' " Galarraga said. "He felt really bad. He didn't even shower."

No perfect game, but I guess he will have to be consoled with this...

From the department of "no surprise there"....the Orioles have gassed their skipper after having the worst record in baseball thus far.

One of those deals where you cant fire 25 players so you fire their coach instead.

Has to be one of the worst run franchises in MLB, if not the worst. Peter Angelos should be ashamed of how he has run his team.

Bad calls are part of the game, and part of any game.
However this will probably lead to video review which will slow down an already slow game.
|
They've reversed calls before. Even to the point where it meant replaying part of a game a month later. Selig should have reversed this one, no question.

Keep in mind though that the Royals protested that game. The Tigers did not protest this one.

Uber prospect Steven Strasberg will make his first MLB start for the Nationals tonight against the Pirates. I'm a bit interested to see how he does.

I'm excited for Strasburg's start. A lot of pressure on that kid, but if anyone can live up to it it's him. His last few showings in AA and AAA have been nothing short of impressive.

So Byrce Harper goes to the Nats 1st overall . He is from Las vegas but Last Summer he stayed with a family friend in Moore, Ok and played on the summer team of my High school Alma Mater for a few weeks. I went and watched a few games and this guy is legit. My opinion isnt much , I did however get most of my post secondary education paid for by playing baseball so I know a couple things about the sport. He hits the ball a long ways. The crowds were huge . Same baseball coach is there so I got to go to the dugout and meet the kid. Got my autograph'd ball locked up securely =)

Pretty good start for Strasburg. 2.2 IP, 1 H, struck out 5 of the last 6 batters he's faced.
Edit: Make that 6 of the last 7.

He's looked pretty damn good, besides this last inning. God I hate Bob Costas doing sports.
