Winter meetings are going on and Yankees have already made a huge splash acquiring Granderson in a 3 team deal including the Tigers and the Diamondbacks.......

Although does that mean Melky is done as a Yankee? What about Gardner?

Matsui is gone.
As a Jays fan it feels nice not to spend the winter meetings just throwing away money to try a short term fix this time around

John Lackey to the Red Sox. This will make life that much more enjoyable for any other AL East team not named the Yankees or Red Sox. Perhaps the Mariners are looking at Lee with the anticipation that the Angles might be beatable this year.

Hopefully he signs a long term contract extension and Philly and goes on to dominate the National League while Toronto can finally begin to actually rebuild!

Ugh. My M's went out and got Milton Bradley. Why? Will teams never learn with this guy.

They did ditch Carlos Silva though who was a horrible waste of money. If Griffey can keep him in line he can be a very productive hitter for a team who does need some offensive punch in their lineup.

I am going to be at the Washington Nationals Opening Day this April, rocking my Expos hat and maybe watching the Doc!

Didn't they give Vazquez a big contract like 5 years ago only to have it be a real bust for them? He's a guy who's good one year, not so good the next. Maybe now that he's a bit older he'll handle the pressure of New York a bit better. No doubt it's culture shock to go from Montreal with 5000 fans to playing for the Yankees.

stupid move by the braves... but i guess it does free up 9 million to go get a big bat .... I have heard other places that the braves might get Uggla from the marlins and move him to 1st.

The Braves are still looking at Uggla but they signed Troy Glaus to play firstbase.

You might be thinking of Carl Pavano. The Yankees got Vazquez from the Expos in the Nick Johnson trade in 2003, and then traded him to Arizona as part of the Randy Johnson deal a year later. His year with the Yankees {2004} was one the worst of his career.

No real surprise here as Jason Bay is heading to the Mets. I'll have to look into Bays career splits, as he's played on teams in some hitter friendly parks. Citi Field certainly isn't Fenway to hit in, so he may have trouble matching past production.

Was hoping he would stay in Boston, but wish him all the best. That's a big contract, I hope he can deliver.

I read somewhere today that the Mets are convinced that the ball jumps out in left field. I don't know if there are stats to back it up but I am sure the Mets are hoping Bay can hit the ball out that way regularly.
