I bet he doesn't cry when his dog runs away. Or angry at the bills he has to pay.

There are no roads connecting any towns here. Your only option of travel is by plane.

Summer is usually only 1 month. I leave in June and there is still snow and its only about +5. I come back in early August and the temps are about 10 but that declines quickly.
I bet the lack of trees can make for some pretty windy days too. Must get a pretty nasty windchill in the winter.

Thanks for the answers to my questions, I would like to explore the arctic someday, but I want to do it in the summer.

Love the northern lights, but I think the cold and isolation would bum me out. How cool would it be to live in a place with warm magnetic poles? There's got to be a planet that fits the bill somewhere...

The coldest I have experienced here was -60 with the windchill. That is COLD!

Our blizzards last for about 4 days and you can't see 2 feet in front of your face.

Great photos. Thanks for posting them.

What is the average family size up there? There's only a population of 300 but how many families would that be? Given the size of the town and the remoteness I would have thought that the finer things in life (or of life) are very popular, birth control notwithstanding!

(This is coming from someone with four results of 'finer things' so I know what that's all about!)
