There are no roads connecting any towns here. Your only option of travel is by plane.
Summer is usually only 1 month. I leave in June and there is still snow and its only about +5. I come back in early August and the temps are about 10 but that declines quickly.

I bet the lack of trees can make for some pretty windy days too. Must get a pretty nasty windchill in the winter.
Thanks for the answers to my questions, I would like to explore the arctic someday, but I want to do it in the summer.
