We got our first half cm that blanketed about 1/10th of the city last night. It's pretty much 2012 here. Might not wear shorts to work on Monday.

I saw a guy on 17th ave with shorts and a t-shirt on. Also saw a few people on bicycles.

Only in Canada.

Horray for us smart guys who have trucks! My Ford F-150 had fun tip-toeing through this snow.

It's not deep enough yet to require a truck.

In Panorama Hills it is...I had to pull my mom's Acura TL. The snow is really deep up here.

Weak Japanese vehicle. My Chevy Cobalt plows through the roads in Panorama.

Haha, I put the temperatures in celcius in brackets for us candians. Man, it really puts our tolerance for cold weather into perspective when we can't stand a windchill that makes it feel like -40, while a Texan deals with an "unbearable" -7.

Well part of that is right...pricey yes, for what you get, WAY overpriced

Also, it's not a truck if it has spark plugs

People in Calgary don't seem so hardcore compared to people where I am now in NE China. It's been in the minus twenties all this past week, with a fair bit of snow and I still see people on bicycles, and motorcycles every day as well as people vending food on the street and girls wearing skirts. Even when the roads are left unplowed and are covered in packed snow there are still loads of people riding around on their motorcycles and bicycles.

It's surprising. I hadn't expected the environment here to be so cold, or for people to be so hardy.

Watch out this morning. All side streets in sandstone had 3-4 foot snow drifts. First time I've ever had to bring a snow shovel to work. Got out of my car half a dozen times to shovel the snow out of the way.

Ya side streets suck. Got stuck on a snow bank around the corner trying to get out of my community. It doesn't help that it's Saturday so side streets have hardly been driven over so the snow is deep and soft. No work for me today.

Photos taken at 4:30am; 3rd round of shovelling in 13 hours; 5 hours from previous effort. Hi-res pics, so I will link to pictures to keep the 56kers happy.

Keep in mind, each time I've gone out before, I've shovelled the same, or more amounts of snow.

This is crazy, I can't even get out of my community. I live in Evanston (only one way in and out) and when I tried to leave this morning there was a car stuck in the middle of the right lane and another one stuck in the left lane facing the wrong direction (obviously trying to get around the other guy).

Shoveling is useless until the wind dies down, my nipples are hard in anticipation of that moment.

my poor neighbour has a 40' long driveway and unfortunately for him he is the only one in the cul de sac who is really collecting snow. He has over a 5' drift on his front stairs so he can't get out of his house plus the entire driveway is covered. Poor . I would not want to shovel that thing

The people who need a smack are the ones who are shovelling their driveways and sidewalks onto the road. Like there isn't enough snow on the roads.

I'm not talking about building a pile on the side of the road so you can get your car out. I'm talking about the ######baggeryness of chucking it right into the middle of the road when cars can barely pass as it is.

And the guy still has to drive a Cobalt for the 350 days of the year that it doesn't require plowing.

Those side streets are a gong show. My MDX had a hell of time getting up to the top of our block. And to all you idiots out there shovelling snow ONTO the road, stop.
