Ha, I once saw a lady try to merge into a lane with a bus coming at her. She didn't shoulder check and the bus smashed right into her. Then when she got out of the car she started b!tching to the driver of the bus. LOL
I don't agree with annual driving tests, that would be way too much of a pain, but they need to implement something like every 5-10 years you need to go in again to do a road test. I won't bash any one group of people as being worse than others, but in general they need to do something because there is way too many drivers on the streets of Calgary who do not deserve their license.
Oh and I think Driver's Ed should be mandatory. It isn't that expensive ($400 for me 3 years ago through my school), and you get insurance discounts, which is totally worth it. Not to mention you learn how to drive PROPERLY.

I don't live in Calgary, but when I do drive up there, I find the biggest threat on the roads are those bitchy, high maintenance wives of yours yapping on their cell phones while driving their over-sized S.U.V's.

No kidding ... twice in the last year I've seen a soccer mom T-Bone another vehicle right in front of me while gabbing on her cell phone. I only get into Calgary on average a couple times a month usually, so that seems like a rather high number to me.

To be fair, in Calgary, both vehicles have equal right of way in a merge, so if the car didn't have enough room, the bus should've yielded.

If you reached adulthood and haven't figured out that you are going to lose a battle with a bus it's time you were culled from the herd.

Yes. Between people like this and people like my dad that suddenly slooooooows down the minute he's on the phone, I would fully support a cell phone driving ban.
And yeah, I know that you and I are pretty capable of handling a quick call without endangering the rest of the world, but alot of people aren't. And it's not just soccer moms and dozeball old men. It's little goddamn teeny bopper girls in their daddy's car yapping away as well. And businessmen in suits with their crackberries.
Without fail, every time I'm stuck behind someone that is driving 10 under the limit and is constantly tapping their brakes, all I need to do is look at the driver and there it is, a f'ng cellphone mashed against their very punchable face.

Yeah dumb tits shouldn't have their cellphone in their ear while they demonstrate their less than stellar driving habits but they do. Semi's are big--cutting in front of them and expecting them to stop just shows how stupid you are whether they had enough time to let you merge or not.
Common sense is more valuable than darn near anything.

A bus is a semi? The lady getting crunched was on her cell phone? Where are you getting these facts, or are you just making stuff up to prove your point?
Buses don't have brakes?

It takes alot longer to stop the kind of weight that a bus/semi is carrying as opposed to your family car.

Semantic stupidity is your answer or the the stupid comment on brakes. Use your farting brain if you have one whilst driving--Is that easy enough for you to grasp?

I used to work in the blackfoot industrial area. The amount of times I saw idiots in cars cut off big trucks was unbelievable. Some people are so stupid and ignorant. "It's legal, so I can do it" is the idea here. Yes it is legal for you to scoot in front of a truck that is braking for a red light. Whether it's wise is a completely different story.
As for the stupid woman that decided to take on a bus, I agree with JohnnyFlame that some people need to be culled from the herd.

I actually had two people cut me off while yapping away on their cell phones. I actually feel they should ban the use of cell phones while driving, period. I don't care if it's work related or not, pull over and take the call rather than possibly rear ending someone.

theres all kinds of bad drivers out there that don't deserve to drive. it seems like half these ppl pull their DL's out of a cracker jack box. i personally have a hard time understanding why its so difficult, but thats just me. i agree with a previous poster that there should be mandatory re testing after a certain number of years or even after a certain age....cuz lets be honest the older you get.....well....GRRRRRRRR. death with shoes.....

I honestly don't see what the justification for NOT banning cell phones while driving is. What's the possible disadvantage of not letting people talk on phones while driving?

It would be near impossible to enforce really.

So are seatbelts. But I know a few people that have gotten tickets for seatbelts. And I don't think cell phones would be that hard to enforce. If a cop is driving along and he sees some shiddiot swaying back and forth in the lane and constantly tapping his brakes and then looks a little closer and sees the hand up to the ear... Pull him over and give him a ticket for undue care and attention.

Actually, as long as it's done right it should be fine. The big thing would be allow police to view your call history from your phone or your provider after an accident. If you were on the phone- 100% at fault even if you ran a green light and hit somebody running the red.
