I'm not sure, it may be a rolling 24 hour for each one or something, I'd have to look deeper into it to see what the cause would be.

You're probably right. It's much better to have quoted posts with "Q.F.T." under them.

(Sorry for bypassing the filter on that one! )

I Can't stand the thanks option as it ends up cluttering up threads with useless info (although it is good to see that when I see a stupid post that the same moronic posters are right there thanking it all the time), but I would love a no thanks feature that is something that would be worthwhile.

The problem with a no thanks is that an unpopular but valid opinion can get nuked, and there's enough group think on a fan site without encouraging more.

It's negative and we want to keep things positive. And you can always use your ignore list to ignore posters that you don't want to see.

Personally, I don't think the thanks feature clutters up threads. If anything clutters up threads, it's sig images.

Agreed with photon there

As for Thanks, I'm really starting to like it. It sort of cleans up the clutter of all the "I agree" and "Good post" and short replies like that. I don't know if that was the intention, but one of the good things to come out of the thanks.

I agree with 4x4 about sigs though, if we are dealing with a BW problem, sigs should go. I don't see a point in them, really.

Sigs don't affect our bandwidth as people host their own.

In your control panel you can also turn off sigs, avatars, and even in-post images.

Yeah I think each one has a 24 hour timer individually.. so if you use one, 24 hours later it comes back.

I'll see if I can change that since it's causing some confusion, I'll maybe bump up the # a bit as well.

I like the "clutter" of the thanks box personally, sometimes I just filter through threads to catch the over flow of the conversation... if i see a post with 25 thanks under it, i know its worth reading

Like anything in life, a good thing can be abused or used as an asset. I would think, find out where it settles rather then trying to solve the clutter feel assuming it will be abused.

I love the thanks, after a month or however long we've had it. Excellent, and I think it might be a little more effective than skill because anyone can say thanks.

I still wish their was an un-thanks though... some people deserve it.

Every now and then for whatever reason I'm unable to give thanks in certain specific threads.

e.g. I wanted to give thanks in the "Flames interested in Gerber?" thread but there was no thanks button available, yet when I go to other threads there are no issues and the thanks button is there.

Old threads getting bumped don't have the thanks, looks like it kicks in at the February bump (161 or so).
