I like this idea. Still incorporates the thanks feature, but with a smaller icon.

This feature is actually growing on me. I admit I didn't like it when it first came out, but now I'm realizing it serves a good purpose. Before, when someone would make a really good post, that many agreed with, there would be 10 posts after, where memnbers quoted the post and then just said "I agree" or something to that effect. Now you'll see a great post, and then 10 usernames under it saying thanks.
I also don't think the box is that big and annoying anymore either, I think it just takes a week of posting before it doesn't stand out and annoy the eye's.
I say keep it and don't change it.

I personally want a "no thanks" feature. So that I can let it be known to people that I disagree without actually posting an argument defending my position.

After a few days I've decided I really like the Thanks. A lot. I don't even mind the clutter, I like seeing who's thanked who. In the Luongo Hurt thread, somebody posted an update and Blaster thanked the poster ... I dunno why but I thought that was cool. It's like a whole new sub-stratum of interaction.
Thumbs up!

Was the thanks feature taken away? I can still see the thank you's under posts, but the Thank you button is no longer there.

And I can see that Thank you under my post, but the button for me to thank others is no longer visible for me. How do I fix that? Or have I surpassed my limit for the day?

You've surpassed your limit for the day if you can't see them anymore.

It would seem one cannot thank one's own post.

Why is it that after i've used my limit i only get to use 2 thank you's the following day?
Does the system not reset itself?

I am a pretty thankful guy. I see value in a lot of member's contributions. I demand the ability to be more grateful per day!
(kidding, obviously... but not really...)

That's kind of weird, maybe it goes on a rolling basis instead of 24 hours? Not sure, it might be a bug in the mod.

OK so... I'm all out of thanks. I checked my history, and I've only thanked two posts today. How does that make sense?
