I think this is why the teams are made up of up to 50 people, so that if a few people cannot make it they can be replaced by others. I think it functions the same as clans or guilds do in other games; you have a large pool of people, at which 6 can play a specific game at a time.
I'm not sure if one team can have multiple games going on at the same time though.

I'm pretty sure the computer will put generic cpu controlled players in the line-up if you can't ice an entire line. You can play an eashl game with 3,4,5 or 6 guys, so I think there would have to be some computer involvement at some point.
I've heard that multiple games can happen at the same time, but I'm not sure if that source was legit or not.

Computer controlled bots do take over if you can't find six players at a time, or if someone disconnects. Wins with bots playing on your team are worth less in the standings than wins with all human controlled players, though.
Also, multiple games can be played by the same team at a time. This is all in the NHL 09 blogs and the video interviews with David Littman.

Ok, the IGN review now has me drooling!
One of the best sports games in a decade? According to an American website? Good stuff!
One of the Wal Marts nearby is open 24hrs. I want to get my copy ASAP Tuesday/Wednesday. But there usually is a Best Buy or Futureshop that leaks their copies as soon as they get them.

Hey guys, would love to be added to the list. I'm down in Australia though, so I might have to be a reserve (can pretty much only play games on friday and saturday nights Calgary time)
Add me anyway!

It's not too bad actually. Slightly more noticeable than if I was back home, but its definately playable. The time difference is the major issue.

Just wanted to say that I cheated the demo a bit to try out the goalie. I played a regular game and position locked the goalie and set the camera to "action". It wasn't exactly the same as playing as the goalie in be a pro because the camera still follows the puck instead of the player, but it was close enough. I was amazed at how fun it was! The only times I really had problems was when a team would come flying over the blue line and launch it. because the camera follows the puck, I couldn't always tell where my goalie was so I was out of position a lot. However, the times I was able to get a handle on things it was enormously fun. I might have to start up a Be a Pro career with a goalie.

I just shot the puck through the net on a shootout! The puck went right in, the red light came on, and the puck rattled against the glass!
That's a funny bug!

I've heard of one that involves scoring on yourself and results in your goalie celebrating with the opposing teams players. Never seen it though.

Hey guys, I just read that the game should be in stores tomorrow! (At least in the States, but I'm assuming here, too!)
This is posted all over the EA forum.

i have been wondering about this... originally it was supposed to be tomorrow... but all over their sit, the graphics say available 9/11. yet games/cds/dvds always come out on tuesdays... so tomorrow would be logical. also i checked a couple big box stores like walmart who say the game ships tomorrow, which i would assume implies that it is supposed to arrive on the 11th when it goes on sale...
who knows. i will go buy it whatever day it comes out!

Be careful with stuff like that. Every year people get the ship date and the street date mixed up. I'm not getting my hopes up. I think there's probably a chance we might get it on wednesday, but my bet is for thursday.
I'm excited for the inevitable flurry of forum activity when the game starts showing up in stores. I don't have a preorder this year so I'll be running around like madness. Might have to resurrect the "get out of the #&^$*% left lane" thread.

So all this talk of when the game is going to be in stores begs the question, when should we create the team and start playing games?
I'd love to be able to have a few days for:
a) People to pick up the game so we have a better chance of having 6 online to play.
b) People to look at the options for team jerseys and we have a chance to pick the one we like best. Also, we still need to pick a team name officially.
I did see a screenshot on HFboards of the "Create A Team" screen, and it looks like we can call ourselves whatever we want, meaning we don't have to pick a City as part of our name. Also, it looks like we can take the jerseys already in the game, and make them any colour we like, so there will be a lot of options (especially if we can choose jerseys from the AHL, SEL, KHL etc.)
So what is everyone's thoughts on creating the team, and do we have any more suggestions for names or jerseys?
I'm partial to the Calgarypuck Fata's myself, but am totally open to other ideas.
Also, I've updated the original post with all of the names and tags we have so far, I'm going to try and add the people that haven't added me yet sometime tonight or tomorrow, I suggest everyone else does the same (Be sure to include "CP" in the request).
And if by any chance you don't want to be a part of the team anymore, just post to let people know not to add you.
Aside from that, just really looking forward to playing with you guys.

Should we consider coordinating ourselves with the 360 CalgaryPuck team? Just an open question, I don't have an opinion on it either way.
CalgaryPuck ____________(insert witty stuff here)
CalgaryPuckers (much like the actual teams that come from this board)

I probably wont have the game until about a week after it's release date. I have it pre-ordered online since none of the stores here will have it on the release date and will jack up the price. It will probably take a couple days for it to be shipped out and then 3-4 days for me to receive it.

I would say at least two weeks for people to get accustomed to controls, figure out exactly which spot they want to play (I wouldn't mind trying goalie, for instance) and to get used to everyone online.
