For the record I think it would be insanely stupid to trade Markstrom and he’s my favourite Flame this year.

Yup...unless you are going scorched earth, which this organization is not, you keep the goaltender. Look how long it took to get him to begin with.
There will be changes, big ones, so you want the guys coming in to at least have a chance. Something impossible if you dont have a legit goaltender.

And give it to who? I don’t disagree but who would you give it to? Lucic? Tanev? Mang? I’d actually be ok with no Captain. See if anyone wants it.

It was embarrassing to watch, especially after the Sens have owned them all season.

It’s one thing to lose. You can lose and be likeable. I’ve liked many versions of this team that were bad.
This one isn’t likeable. And that stuff at the end of the game just solidifies that feeling for me. Don’t even want to cheer for them when I see that crap.

I think he's been pretty average. I was expecting more from him.

You don’t trade guys like that as they are only going to get better.
You think Anaheim doesn’t wish they kept Theodore?
We gotta keep things in perspective
|
BT is not moving Valimaki, Andersson or Hanifin at their ages. He will also protect Tanev since Valimaki not expansion eligible.
Gio will be left unprotected so might as well try to move him retained at deadline for a pick. Someone will bite on him given recency bias of Norris trophy. Insurance for top 4 injury.
The real interesting twist is if they have the guts to move Johnny or Mony at trade deadline. Shocking how bad that pair has been this year 5on5. Is there something going on behind the scenes between them?

People are more mad about Andersson stealing a puck than losing to bottom 3 team trying to keep our playoff hopes alive.

I think it says everything about where this team is at right now when Hrudey, with two minutes left in the first period, says that the Flames would have a tough mountain to climb if they go down 2-0 at that point.

Haha same old ####. Didn’t watch and don’t really plan to watch again this season. Tired of this team. I honestly would not mind if the franchise disbanded for a couple seasons and went dormant until the new arena is finished construction. Is there any rule stopping the team from releasing all its players (effectively loaning them out), going dormant for a couple years and then returning as an expansion team? I know it’s just hyperbole, but I can’t stand this team any longer!

Wouldn't it be good if they took Gio? Frees up some needed cap space.

He has been absolutely terrible since Sutter took over. Good info on it from the Athletic.

In the first half of the season, when Monahan was on the ice the Flames were expected to score 2.41 goals per 60 and take 1.5 goals against. That’s a modest 53 percent expected goal percentage. However, in the last six games that percentage has dropped to 36 percent, which means when Monahan is on the ice, the Flames are giving up more offensive chances to their opponents (2.39 xGA/60) than Calgary is generating (1.36 xGF/60).
It’s the lowest xG percentage of all the Flames’ centres, and only Ritchie and Nesterov are lower among all active skaters.
