Nyquist really interests me. Good skilled two way player that would fit in well in Calgary IMO.
Not as a rental though, I'd want him extended at a reasonable price.

Ever since he held his own without Johnny beside him, I've been a huge fan of Kevin Hayes. With that cap hit, I doubt it's a realistic acquisition, but I can dream...

Maybe I just have selective memory, but I don't think any of us were saying Dougie was the "best defenseman in the NHL," and I didn't think anyone outside of the Flames thought that much of him either. Now the Leafs might acquire him after a very underwhelming first half, and he's suddenly a top 6 defenseman?
Toronto fans/media are crazy.

LOLOL is all I have to say...was so glad when he was traded.

It looks like if we make the playoffs this year the Isles (from the complicated Hamonic trade) don't get our 2nd. Instead, why not trade it to them with the bonus possibility of it becoming a 1st? Kind of like the Russell trade.

Could you fill me in again on what that complicated trade means? The stipulations?

It's almost like Lindholm and Hanifin's play have increased Hamilton's value.
Traded for a point per game Selke candidate and a 22 year old defenceman on pace for 40 points means Hamilton is one of the best defencemen in the league.
Hope someone overpays cause it won't be Calgary.

I love Ferland, but saying that, no, I don't want players with recurring injury problems, especially concussions.

This board has a recurring fascination with bringing ex players back.

He'll cry?
Based on what exactly?

Ferly is my favourite but i'd be hesitant to spend significant assets for him in a trade or even sign him long term.
He's had too many concussions which will limit his effectiveness. He will never again be what he was in that Vancouver series and honestly, as a fan, I get scared for him every time he gets in a big collision or gets into a fight.

Islanders need solid 2 way top 6 forward and flames could use an offensive #2 rw.
Frolik for Eberle.

I would be okay with a Frolik for Eberle (retained) deal.
Gives the Flames cap space for next year while the Isles can give Frolik minutes and pay him less than his cap hit.
As for Eberle, wasn't he super clutch with Team Canada before he put on the Oiler stink? He could be Gelinas 2.0 for us this post-season. I wish that happens just to see reactions from Oilers fans (Hall winning MVP, Eberle winning cup)

I wonder what Dzingel would cost.
I say get Frolik back full time with 3M and see where it goes.

Flames have to add on that deal for Eberle.

There's no conditions anymore. The 2nd in 2019 is the Islanders.
The 2019 2nd round pick was either going to Arizona, if the Flames made the playoffs in 2018, or New York Islanders, if they missed the playoffs in 2018.
If they made the playoffs, the Islanders would have received a 2020 2nd (because the 2019 2nd would have gone to the Coyotes).
They missed the playoffs, the 2nd 2019 goes to the Islanders and the Flames got back a 2019 4th round.

I wouldn't think too much though. Maybe we can give one of our B prospects like Spencer Foo.

Is there a more damning indictment of Corsi (and the advanced stats community) than the reverence they have for Dougie Hamilton?
I like Pinder, but go back and listen to how he lost his mind at the Flames trading away a superb defenceman like Hamilton. That's how deceived advanced stats groupies get by their numbers.

The one that I love and will never ever forget is Edmonton with their stint having hired Tyler Dellow, advising Dallas Eakins.

Add me to the list that wants Kevin Hayes. Although not at the expense of a 1st.
He would certainly add size and grit.
