I was happy to get it as my world pick. I don't watch many shows from outside US/Can, really surprised it was still available. I had to search a few time to be sure.

There have been some fantastic British shows picked so far in this draft that you would probably really enjoy then. It would definitely be worth you searching them out.

HD: I've been watching clips of Coupling all evening. Hilarious!

I want to marry Jack Davenport! He was the best thing about the Pirates movies and basically the only reason I watched Swingtown this summer.

Mike Holmes is supposed to be building a development in Okotoks. I would imagine the economy may put a crimp ion that idea, but I hope not. It would be interesting to see what he comes up with.

I"m really excited for this next pick, I've had it written up since this morning. I hope this selection works in the Comedy (Open) category, if not, I can move it. In the Comedy (Open) category, Team Legen…wait for it…dary is very pleased to select The Muppet Show!

This is one of my favorite shows ever! When I was little, my mom always let me stay up late to watch reruns of it. It always had great guest stars and great musical numbers. My favorite Muppets were always Statler & Waldorf and the Swedish Chef (which gave us the awesome nickname Bork!).

The Muppet Show!

You can thank everyone for picking UK shows for this being available. I seriously was going to take it this round, I LOVE the Muppets. I have the first 3 seasons, 2 "Best of" discs, The Muppet Movie, The Muppets Take Manhattan and Muppet Christmas Carol on DVD. I even loved Muppet Babies as a kid.

But with only one UK show left that I watch I had to grab Coupling. No Muppets for me make me sad. Grrr.....

Sorry HD! I also have the first few season of DVD. I love the Muppet Christmas Carol, I'm trying to hold off on watching it again until it's closer to Christmas. My cousins and I just recently watched The Great Muppet Caper on DVD for the first time in years. We used to watch it at my grandparents all the time when we were younger. I didn't remember it being as cracked out as it was. And I still have the 30th Annivesary Special we taped off the tv when I was a kid.

Team Vandelay Industries is proud to select in the comedy category...

FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDShttp://www.stuff.co.nz/images/323952.jpg

Flight of the Conchords follows the trials and tribulations of a two man, digi-folk band from New Zealand as they try to make a name for themselves in their adopted home of New York City. The band is made up of Bret McKenzie on guitar and vocals, and Jemaine Clement on guitar and vocals.

Bret and Jemaine have moved to New York in the hope of forging a successful music career. So far they've managed to find a manager (whose "other" job is at the New Zealand Consulate), one fan (a married obsessive) and one friend (who owns the local pawn shop) -- but not much else.

Man, the picks are coming fast and furious in this draft! Well done everyone.

Muppets...just great stuff. Comedy for the adults and kids.

Somewhat related true story:

A couple of years ago I woke myself up laughing. I could not stop. It was that kind of laughter that actually hurts you. The reason? I was dreaming and without going into too much detail, my wife was going on some covert operation and her objective was to blend in with the muppets. I said (in my dream) "Jody, they're going to know you're not a muppet."

I was crying from laughing so hard. Woke her up with my laughing. She didn't think it was as funny. How the hell does something like that crawl into one's brain?

For my next pick, in the category of Cartoon...

The greatest cartoon ever created! Namely, The Transformers!

http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/2509/tformersg1mg3.jpg

The Transformers is an American animated television series depicting a war between giant robots who could transform into vehicles, animals, and other objects. Written and recorded in America, the series was animated in Japan and South Korea. The entire series was based upon the line of transforming toys originally created by Japanese toy manufacturer Takara, which were developed into the Transformers line by American company Hasbro.

The Mustard Inspectors select with their 7th round pick, in the Mini-Series/Made For TV Movie category:

Lonesome Dove (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nip/tuck)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y28/djroach/lonesome_dove_ver1.jpg

This could be the most excited I've been for any pick in any draft so far. I have been tempted to take this since round 1 and simply cannot afford to let it slip any further and risk not snagging it for The Mustard Inspectors. About 2 months ago I was watching a couple westerns a week, trying to find a gem for the movie draft. I came across this mini-series, and although I wasn't sure if it would be eligible, I was reading reviews like "the best mini-series ever made," "one of the best westerns of all-time, period," and "6 hours that feels like 2- a classic movie series that everyone will fall in love with."

So I decided I should devote some time to this one and watch it. Am I ever glad I did- I will say right now Lonesome Dove is in my top 10 films of all-time, if you choose to classify it that way (as a "film" and not a mini-series). As a mini-series, it has few if any equals, and is without a doubt at the top of my list there also. This is a masterwork in every aspect of its being, an epic western/drama that drew me with its intense characterizations, lush scenery, and memorable story.

From Wiki:

Captain Augustus "Gus" McCrae (Robert Duvall (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Duvall)) and Captain Woodrow F. Call (Tommy Lee Jones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Lee_Jones)), two famous ex-Texas Rangers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Ranger), run a cattle ranch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cattle_ranch) called the Hat Creek Cattle Company and Livery Emporium in the small dusty Texas border town of Lonesome Dove. Gus is a romantic figure whose happy-go-lucky nature and good fortune with women and prostitutes, especially Lorena Wood (Diane Lane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Lane)), prohibits him from doing much real work around the ranch. Call, however, is a no-nonsense, hard-working taskmaster, though his industrious nature has not rubbed off on Gus in the thirty years they've been together.

Working with them are Joshua Deets (Danny Glover (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Glover)), a black man who is an excellent tracker and scout from their Ranger days, Pea Eye Parker (Timothy Scott), another former Ranger who works hard but isn't all too bright, and Bolivar (León Singer), a retired Mexican bandit who is. their cook. Also living with them is the boy Newt Dobbs (Rick Schroder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Schroder)), a seventeen-year-old whose mother was a prostitute named Maggie and whose father may be Call.

The story begins as Jake Spoon (Robert Urich (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Urich)), a former comrade of Call's and McCrae's, shows up after an absence of more than ten years. He is a man on the run, having accidentally shot the dentist, and brother of the sheriff, of Fort Smith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Smith,_Arkansas), Arkansas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkansas). Reunited with Gus and Call, Jake's breath-taking description of Montana inspires Call to gather a herd of cattle and drive them there, to begin the first cattle ranch in the frontier state. Call is attracted to the romantic notion of settling pristine country. Gus is less enthusiastic, pointing out that they are getting old and that they are Rangers and traders, not cowboys. But he changes his mind when Jake reminds him that Gus' old sweetheart, Clara, lives on the Platte, which is on their route to Montana. Call prevails and they enlist the Hat Creek crew and some new hands to rustle a herd from south of the border, and then they begin the long drive north. Along the way, the Hat Creek boys revisit old regrets and losses and come to terms with their past.

I really don't know what else I can write here that will get some of you to go to Blockbuster and seek this one out... How about this- skip that step, just head to Amazon, buy the recently restored DVD version, and set aside a weekend afternoon. Huddle up with the wife/girlfriend/family, make some snacks, grab some tissues/pillows, plant yourself on the couch, and pop this in the DVD player. Lonesome Dove is truly a special piece of work, and I am so glad I discovered it. Again, I am not exaggerating when I say it is one of the best pieces of filmmaking I've ever seen, and worthy of the first overall pick in either the TV or the Movie Drafts!

With our seventh round selection, Team Sequoia is proud to select, in the Sci-Fi Category, Star Trek: Voyager.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9d/VOYlogo.png

From memory-alpha.org:
Launched in the year 2371, the Intrepid-class Federation starship USS Voyager was a ship built to return to Starfleet's founding principle of scientific exploration. It was fitting that the ship's captain, Kathryn Janeway, rose up through the science ranks rather than command. On the ship's first mission, which required it to find and capture a Maquis vessel that disappeared into the treacherous Badlands, the crews of both Voyager, and the Maquis ship it was pursuing, were swept clear across the galaxy and deep into the Delta Quadrant. This was the doing of a powerful alien being known as the Caretaker. The 70,000 light year transit cost the lives of over a dozen crew members. Captain Janeway was forced to destroy the massive alien array that housed the Caretaker. In doing so, she saved an alien race, the Ocampa, but stranded Voyager and the crew in the Delta Quadrant.

But not all was lost. United in a common purpose, the surviving Maquis rebels joined with Janeway's Starfleet-trained crew on Voyager. Though a journey back to the Alpha Quadrant would have taken more than seventy years through unknown and treacherous territory, the crew of Voyager was well served by Janeway's skilled leadership and their own steadfast determination. Ultimately, Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrant in seven years.

Of course, the crew's return home was far from boring. Voyager made first contact with over 400 completely new species in the Delta Quadrant, discovered links to Earth's early space exploration history, utilized and even pioneered new technologies, and engaged in countless other adventures that would astonish the mind.

The crew encountered species ranging from the violent and ruthless Kazon, the Phage-afflicted Vidiians, the colorful Talaxians and the ephemeral Ocampa. The crew's other encounters included run-ins with the temporally-sophisticated Krenim, the predatory Hirogen, the toxic Malon, and the scheming Hierarchy. The crew picked up passengers along the way including the wily but extremely resourceful Talaxian, Neelix (who would serve at times as Voyager's Ambassador, morale officer, and even head-chef), and the Ocampan telepath, Kes (who, as a parting gift to the crew, used her powers of telekinesis to thrust Voyager 10,000light years closer to the Alpha Quadrant).

Most memorably, however, were Voyager's repeated clashes with the dreaded Borg. While each encounter posed grave danger, Voyager was able to prevail every time. At one point, Janeway actually negotiated a temporary peace with the Borg when they perceived a common threat in a mysterious alien species yielding from fluidic space. At other times, she was able to liberate Borg drones from the Borg collective including Seven of Nine and Icheb. Other instances pitted Voyager against not only the Borg, but also against the nightmarish Borg Queen herself.

While hardly alone in the Delta Quadrant, several years after Voyager's dissapearence, Starfleet Command learned of the starship's fate. Thanks in large part to the efforts of the eccentric Starfleet officer, Reginald Barclay, the Pathfinder Project was established to help guide Voyager back home. The entire Federation celebrated when Voyager made a triumphant return to the Alpha Quadrant by utilizing and then destroying a Borg transwarp conduit to hurl them back to Earth in 2378.

I'm really happy that Voyager is still available to me, seeing as it's been my favourite of the Star Trek series. I was never been a huge fan of the first couple of seasons (that featured a lot of Kes), but once Jeri Ryan came aboard as Seven of Nine, the series seemed to take a turn for the better.

This is the cast that I'll always favour as the best:

http://images.wizarduniverse.com/WizardUniverse/magazinepics/startrek/1.jpg

Some Clips:

The Doctor "hides" in Seven of Nine's body while they're captured by a race of aliens who are at war with holograms. Jeri Ryan does a great job portraying the Doctor's speaking style and mannerisms.

in the pre 80's category, Team Abe Vigoda is proud to select:

Barney Miller

http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/barney-miller.jpg

Loved this show when I was a kid. I even remember how sad I was when Jack Soo died. Here's a summary stolen from wiki:

Captain Miller tries to remain sane while leading the 12th Precinct's detectives: crochety, nearing-retirement Jewish-American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish-American) Philip K. Fish, naive but goodhearted Polish-American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish-American) Stanley "Wojo" Wojciehowicz, ambitious, arrogant African-American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-American) Ronald Nathan Harris, philosophical, wisecracking Japanese-American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese-American) Nick Yemana, and Puerto Rican Chano Amanguale. He also has to deal with his unapologetically old-school superior, Chief Inspector Frank Luger, and diminutive (and obsequious) Officer Carl Levitt, who passive-aggressively badgers Miller constantly about being promoted to detective. Amanguale was replaced by intellectual (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual) Arthur P. Dietrich from the third season on.
The show's focus was split between the detectives' interactions with each other and with the suspects and witnesses they detained, processed, and interviewed. Some typical conflicts and long running plotlines included Miller's frustration with red tape and paperwork, his constant efforts to maintain peace, order, and discipline, and his numerous failed attempts to get a promotion; Harris's preoccupation with outside interests, mainly his novel, and his inability to remain focused on his police work; Fish's incontinence and reluctance to retire; Wojciehowicz's impulsive behavior and love life; Luger's nostalgia for the old days with partners Foster, Kleiner and Brown; Levitt's (eventually successful) quest to become a detective; the rivalry between the precinct's resident intellectuals, Harris and Dietrich and continually - but reliably - bad coffee.

Team "Watching through the Static" chooses, in the Medical category (which is safe because Barnes already has filled it) St. Elsewhere.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/db/Stelsewhere.jpg

The series was set at St. Eligius, a decaying urban teaching hospital in Boston's South End neighborhood (said at the time to be based on Boston City Hospital, now Boston Medical Center). The hospital's nickname, "St. Elsewhere," is medical industry slang for poor hospitals that serve patients not wanted by the more prestigious institutions. As a medical drama, St. Elsewhere dealt with serious issues of life and death, though episodes also included a substantial amount of black comedy.

Team Idiot Box would like to select in the category of Fantasy/Sci Fi, Supernatural (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460681/). http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9d/Smb5-s4.jpg

-from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5)Babylon 5 is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) science fiction television series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction_on_television) created, produced and largely written by J. Michael Straczynski (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Michael_Straczynski). The show centers on the Babylon 5 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5_%28space_station%29) space station (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_station): a focal point for politics, diplomacy, and conflict in the late 2250s and early 2260s. With its prominent use of pre-planned story arcs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Story_arc), the series was often described as a "novel for television."[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-soaps-0)[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-1)

The pilot film premiered on February 22, 1993. The regular series aired from January 26, 1994 and ran for five full seasons, winning two Hugos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Award) for Best Dramatic Presentation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugo_Award_for_Best_Dramatic_Presentation)[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-2) and two Emmy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmy) awards - for makeup and visual effects.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-3) The show spawned six television films and a spin-off (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spin-off) series, Crusade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusade_%28TV_series%29), which aired in 1999 and ran for thirteen episodes. On July 31, 2007, a DVD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD) was released containing two short films about selected characters from the series.

Straczynski set five goals for Babylon 5. He said that the show "would have to be good science fiction" as well as good television ("rarely are [sci-fi] shows both good [sci-fi] and good TV; [they're] generally one or the other"); it would have to do for science fiction television what Hill Street Blues (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hill_Street_Blues) had done for police dramas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_drama), by taking an adult approach to the subject; it would have to be reasonably budgeted, and "it would have to look unlike anything ever seen before on TV, presenting individual stories against a much broader canvas."[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-GEnie-1991-6) He further stressed that his approach was "to take [sci-fi] seriously, to build characters for grown-ups (not a Wesley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Crusher) in the bunch), to incorporate real science but keep the characters at the center of the story."[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-GEnie-1991-6) Some of the staples of television science fiction were also out of the question (the show would have "no kids or cute robots"[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-7)). The idea was not to present a perfect utopian future, but one with greed and homelessness; one where characters grow, develop, live, and die; one where not everything was the same at the end of the day's events. Citing Mark Twain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Twain) as an influence, Straczynski said he wanted the show to be a mirror to the real world and to covertly teach.[5] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-GEnie-1992-4)

Creator and showrunner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Showrunner) J. Michael Straczynski wrote 92 of the 110 episodes of Babylon 5. He also scripted all 44 episodes in the third and fourth seasons;[13] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-12) according to Straczynski, a feat never before accomplished in American television.[14] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-13) Other writers to have contributed scripts to the show include Peter David (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_David), Neil Gaiman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Gaiman), Kathryn M. Drennan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathryn_M._Drennan), Lawrence G. DiTillio (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_DiTillio), D.C. Fontana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D.C._Fontana), and David Gerrold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Gerrold). Harlan Ellison (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlan_Ellison), a creative consultant on the show, received story credits for two episodes.[15] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-14) Each writer was informed of the over-arching storyline, enabling the show to be produced consistently under-budget. The rules of production were strict; scripts were written six episodes in advance, and changes could not be made once production had started.[16] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5#cite_note-15)
My favorite Sci-fi series on the small screen and even surpassing theatrical sci-fi in many respects. What stands out for me is the triumph of planning and continuity that no other screen Sci-Fi has achieved (with the possible exception of Doctor Who).

Five seasons of 22 episodes almost completely planned in advance resulted in an epic story that didn't lose its direction and continuity like so many other TV or movie series. *coughX-Files* *coughStarWars*

The acting of Andreas Katsulas as "G'Kar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%27Kar)" and Peter Jurasik as "Londo Mollari (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Londo_Mollari)" in particular is as good as it gets on television.

In the this round the Infomercial Kings are proud to select one of our favorite current shows and the first show that we ever bought a box set for, in the category of Sci-Fi, Smallville.

http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u100/osolemai/smallville-season6.jpg

In October 1989, a huge meteor shower destroyed most of the town of Smallville, Kansas. This event brought Jonathan and Martha Kent what they have always wanted, a son they named Clark. In 2001, their son is becoming a man, who has two best friends, Pete Ross and Chloe Sullivan, and a crush on the hottest girl in school, Lana Lang, not to mention a budding friendship with future nemesis Lex Luthor. But his parents have been hiding a secret from him: they found him inside a spaceship when the meteor shower came. As he begins to develop his powers and discover more abilities that will soon transform him into Superman, Clark begins to take on his mantle as the Man of Steel.

"Oh boy!"

For my next pick, Frozen TV Dinner is proud to select in the Action/Adventure category, a show that aired from 1989 to 1993 on NBC: Quantum Leap.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/cf/Quantum_leap.jpg/250px-Quantum_leap.jpg

Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, Doctor Sam Beckett led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM LEAP.

Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Beckett, prematurely stepped into the Project Accelerator and vanished.

He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own time was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al, the Project Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Beckett could see and hear.

Trapped in the past, Doctor Beckett finds himself leaping from life to life, putting things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next leap will be the leap home.

With only two regular cast members, Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, and Dean Stockwell as Al, Quantum Leap survived because of the strength of its premise, and the chemistry between its lead actors.

Each episode started with Sam "leaping" into the life of a different person who lived sometime during Sam's lifetime (which was sometime in the mid-50s through the present). Sam would struggle trying to figure out whose life he was inhabiting and what he needed to do to make the next leap. Eventually, Al would appear to Sam to give him some background on who he was and what it was believed he needed to do to "right the wrong".

Unfortunately, low ratings led to network tinkering, which in turn led to the show changing from its initial premise of Sam leaping into the lives of normal people and helping them get their lives back on track. Eventually, Sam started to leap into the lives of people surrounding well-known historical events (such as leaping into Lee Harvey Oswald and "saving" Jackie Kennedy from being shot), or into the lives of celebrities, such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.

The show also eventually introduced the concept of the "Evil Leaper". If Sam was doing God's work (which was implied throughout the show's run) by putting people's lives back on track, the Evil Leaper was working for the devil to put them off track. The concept of a character going back in time and being able to correct events in people's lives has been tackled by other shows since Quantum Leap, and eventually, they all introduce an "Evil Leaper", and it almost always means that the show will soon be canceled.

When it was good, Quantum Leap was one of my favourite shows on the air at the time. I wish my mind could be "swiss cheesed" to forget the bad episodes.

"REAL BIKES. REAL FIGHTS. REAL MAN HUGS"

This cult series tracks the daily tension, tirades and triumphs of a father and son team, as they run a business creating custom motorbike masterpieces in their Orange County workshop, eighty miles north of New York.

I chose this for the info category for the bike building process. I love watching these guys assemble a bike from the design process to the actual putting all the pieces together. What they build are some amazing bikes.

http://i38.tinypic.com/2exso4p.jpg

No one can deny having a bit of chrome-envy when they see tricked-out super bikes whiz by at high speeds. Whether it's Ghost Rider's demon bike or a brand spanking-new Harley Davidson, who can't marvel at a choice custom bike?

In American Chopper, our unorthodox family business team chases the American dream by building the American vehicle. This bike building father and son pair made the world-famous, black-plated, chrome-webbed, Black Widow bike.

You'll be treated to the hottest bikes and heated arguments as you peer into the Teutul family shop in Rock Tavern, New York. But you'll also venture with the team as they travel to photo shoots and bike shows - always on a motorcycle, of course.

Just watch them assemble one of these high-octane, ultra-stylized motorcycles to get a whole new appreciation for the passion that fuels tech-savvy Chopper heads around the world.

Who does more around the shop?

I like seeing the bikes they build - amazing, but the last season or two I kind of stopped watching because I got tired of seeing them doing their stupid junk not related to bike building. Jousting on mini-bikes, yanking a sled bike off the roof, and so on. It just seemed like they have had an awful lot of filler.

And I think Vinnie is probably technically the best builder there. Paul Jr is probably better at imagining up the concepts, but Vinnie sure does seem to be the one who can put everything together.

I see the info\ed category is pretty wide open, at first I was thinking that it had to be a show where it was all about learning and such, not a show where you pick up the occasional thing.
This helps with my choice now as it opens it up a lot more to me.

I'm not trying to knock Dion's pick, but I don't know any more about building a bike from watching OCC/American Chopper, so I don't know the educational value. I like to watch them do it, and it's educational to a point that it's a process that you'd normally not see if you walked into Kane's or what-have-you. But I don't learn much about the bike, or how to build one if I ever wanted to try.

Picking Guinea Pig, they actually explain what happens to the human body when put in the situations Ryan Stock is placed in, and usually give tips on how not to get into those situations.

I'm cool if both are in the right spots, I could always move GP into Canadian if I need to. Just stating my expectation of the EDUCATION category.

I've learned a lot about the whole process of buliding a bike. From the design process to the fabrication of parts. It's something i didn't know and it's an area that fascinates me. I may never want to build a bike but that doesn't mean it's not educational.

That being said i also support your choice for the education/information category. IMO we all have different views as what constitutes as a learning process.

Education is the one category that I haven't had any ideas so far...some clarification on the category would help, I'm sure. There are tons of shows that can be grouped in the same category as American Chopper that a person could say they learn something from, but I always clasified those types of shows as more reality based than anything.

It's not a exercise in cutting your pick down Dion, I would have taken my pick regardless what the definition was.

But when it's only explained as educational, I may have a different definition than you have. Much like my Kenny vs. Spenny pick. So, I'm cool with it. I could justify why it would be considered educational, but it's not 1,2,3 Contact or anything like that... not that Guinea Pig is... the description of the category is VERY vauge.

I support the pick.

wiki:

How I Met Your Mother is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) situation comedy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situation_comedy) that premiered on CBS Broadcasting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS) on September 19, 2005. The show was created by Craig Thomas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Thomas_%28screenwriter%29) and Carter Bays (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carter_Bays). As a framing device (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Framing_device), the main character, Ted Mosby (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Mosby), in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother, which explains the title and allows for a narration in the past tense. How I Met Your Mother's other main characters are Marshall Eriksen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshall_Eriksen), Robin Scherbatsky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Scherbatsky), Barney Stinson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barney_Stinson), and Lily Aldrin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lily_Aldrin). Thomas and Bays drew from their friendship in creating the characters, with Ted based loosely on Bays, and Marshall and Lily based loosely on Thomas and his wife.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0490547/

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41H2XjyFqgL._SX320_SY240_.jpg

Wow, guess me squeezing my pick in this morning and nearly being late for work didn't accomplish anything at all!

This show probably could've dropped to the last round, but I felt I needed to fill this category NOW, just in case. You see, I hate eliminatrion reality tv. Hate, hate, hate it! American Idol, Survivor, Big Brother, Dancing shows, Amazing Race...I think it all plays to the lowest common denomenator: The need of humans to make fun of others in order to make themselves feel better about themselves. I despise it all!

This show, however, is interesting because it is more about individuals interacting with themselves and their environment, and not other humans. In the initial episode, the contestants are introduced to Val and their own personal environments. Val is the 'computer' operator of the game and is the tormentor and hero of the contestants. Val comes up with twisted ways to test the endurance and mental toughness of the contestants such as sleep deprivation, starvation, temperature changes the list goes on and on.

As the game progresses contestants give up as they can't hack it and eventually one ends up winning. Fascinating stuff to watch actually. There are no 'secret alliances', no backstabbing just people trying to overcome adversity.

Once upon a time there was a live sketch comedy program at NBC called The Girlie Show, and it was good, as far as head writer Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and ditzy blond star Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) were concerned. Then one day a sinister, egotistical (and very occasionally vulnerable) executive named Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) came along, parachuted in a new, male lead performer and changed the name of the show to TGS With Tracy Jordan …

In the Game Show category, Team Legen...wait for it...dary! is happy to select, Wheel of Fortune!

This is always my favorite game show because it doesn't make me feel as stupid as when I watch Jeopardy. It can get a bit annoying at times because most people don't seem to know how to pronounce the letter "N" properly and people are always buying vowels when they shouldn't. That's my biggest pet peeve. If I was going to be on a game show, this would be it. I also enjoy the horrible whitty banter between Pat and Vanna at the end of the show.

IMDB page:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072584/

Random Trivia:

The puzzle board, one of the concepts of "Wheel of Fortune", was devised from the popular game "Hangman".

The first letter Vanna White (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001846/) ever turned on the show was a "T"

The old trilon puzzle board was retired in February 1997 and was replaced with a new one using touch screens.

The bonus round premiered in 1981 on the daytime edition. Originally, contestants chose to play one final puzzle for a grand prize they selected from five on stage. They chose five consonants and a vowel. In 1988, they were spotted five consonants (R,S,T,L,N) and one vowel (E), and chose 3 more consonants and one vowel. In 1989, the prizes were hidden under letters W H E E L, and the contestant picked a letter, winning whatever prize the letter concealed. That changed in 2001, to where contestants spun a mini wheel that selected the prize.

"Where in the world is...Carmen Sandiego?"

http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r10/masson223/carmensandiego.jpg

With our 8th selection in the CP TV Show Draft, the Channel Surfers choose Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego in the Game Show category.

wikipedia:
Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? is a popular children's television (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children%27s_television_series) game show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_show) loosely based on the computer games of the same name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_in_the_World_Is_Carmen_Sandiego%3F) created by now defunct Brøderbund Software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Br%C3%B8derbund).[...] The bulk of each World episode consisted of three child contestants (typically 10-14 years of age) answering questions to determine the location of one of Carmen Sandiego (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carmen_Sandiego_%28character%29)'s wacky crooks with zany sketches (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sketch_comedy) being performed to provide clues. Eventually, the contestant with the lowest score was eliminated, and the remaining two contestants played a Concentration (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concentration_%28game%29)-esque game to capture the day's crook. The winning contestant then moved onto the final round, where siren lights had to be correctly placed on a giant map as locations were named. If the player was successful in this round, Carmen Sandiego was "captured" and the contestant won a trip to anywhere in the continental United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_United_States) in season 1, expanded to anywhere in North America (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America) in season 2 and beyond.

For our next pick, in the category of Game Shows...

We want... BIG BUCKS!!... NO WHAMMIES!!

That's right, it's... Press Your Luck!

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/00/Pressyourluckboard.jpg

Press Your Luck was an American television daytime game show that ran weekdays on CBS from September 19, 1983 to September 26, 1986, where contestants collected "spins" by answering trivia questions, and then used the spins on an 18-space game board full of cash and prizes. The person who amassed the most in cash and prizes at the end of the game won. Peter Tomarken was the show's host, and Rod Roddy was the announcer (although John Harlan and Charlie O'Donnell filled in).

The show was memorable for the "Whammy," a red cartoon creature wearing a cape. The Whammy's spaces on the game board took away the contestant's money, accompanied by an animation that would show the Whammy taking the loot—but frequently being chased away, blown up, or otherwise humiliated in the process. The animated Whammies were created and animated by Savage Steve Holland and Bill Kopp, and voiced by creator/executive producer Bill Carruthers. Throughout the show's run, approximately 80 different animations were used, and the Whammy became popular enough that at the end of many episodes, Tomarken would read a "Whammy poem", sent in by a home viewer. "Whammy poems" would also appear after the first round of the Big Board or after the second question round before going to commercial on occasion.

With our 8th Round selection, Team Sequoia is proud to select, in the Pre-1980's category, The Jeffersons.

Opening Theme Song:
OGtFSTL1Nbo

From Wiki:
During the January 11, 1975, episode of All in the Family, Edith Bunker gave a tearful good-bye to her neighbor, Louise Jefferson, as she and her husband, George Jefferson, and their son, Lionel, moved from a working class section of Queens into a luxury apartment in Manhattan, thus launching a spin-off of All in the Family and creating the 11-year run of The Jeffersons. George had long ago begun his career as a dry-cleaner and now was operating seven stores in ghetto sections of New York City. Louise made friends with Tom and Helen Willis, an interracial couple. Tom and Helen Willis had two children who George insultingly called "zebras": Allan Willis, their overzealous college drop-out who abandoned the family, passed as a full-blood Caucasian and lived in Paris for two years, and Jenny, their beloved, hard-working, fashion designing, daughter, who dated Lionel. Jenny and Lionel were married on Christmas Eve, 1976, but then divorced in the winter of 1985, due to marriage problems and disagreements regarding their daughter, Jessica (Ebonie Smith).
Also in the series was five-time Emmy-nominee Marla Gibbs as Florence Johnston, their backtalking, wisecracking housekeeper. Florence turned out to be a decent Christian, and dated several men. She often teased George, mostly about his short stature and receding hairline. Paul Benedict arrived as Harry Bentley, a loyal, kind, friendly British next-door neighbor, who worked as a Russian language interpreter at the United Nations. Bentley was written out at the end of the show's seventh season, implying that he moved to the Soviet Union from 1981 until 1983, when he returned into the United States. A common sight-gag of the show was George slamming the door in Bentley's face mid-conversation. Bentley also had a bad back, and frequently enlisted George to walk on his back, since he was the same weight as a Japanese woman who had treated his back in that manner. He also became known for addressing the Jeffersons as "Mr. J" and "Mrs. J".

The series also starred the late Zara Cully as Mother Jefferson, who constantly put Louise down as not being a good wife. Cully appeared in the first two seasons of the series, but was written out in the third season (Mother Jefferson died in 1978, due to a heart attack). No episode was centered on Mother Jefferson's death. Cully was removed from the credits after the fourth season. Cully made two appearances during the 1976—1977 season, and three appearances in the 1977—1978 season. Ned Wertimer played the doorman, Ralph Hart, throughout the series. Another character, often spoken about, but rarely seen was Mr. Whittendale played by Jack Fletcher as the building owner.

The Mustard Inspectors select with their 8th round pick, in the Comedy (Sitcom) category:

That 70's Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_wire)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y28/djroach/70sshow.jpg

Although I would've liked to spend an earlier round pick to get a true classic in this category, the depth of very good sitcoms is quite reasonable, and I'm very happy to get a show that always makes me laugh in the 8th round.

The last couple of seasons (with cast defections and some boring storylines) are forgettable, but during its prime That 70's Show was a brilliant sitcom. Memorable characters, an outstanding ensemble cast, unpredictable plots, the essence of the 70's- it's hard to find reasons to dislike this show.

Also of note are the series use of dream sequences, flashbacks, musical numbers, and the infamous "circling camera," wherein the camera rotates 360* one actor at a time as they speak aloud. Used for comedic effect, this technique usually takes place in Eric's basement and is punctuated by the (presumed) use of marijuana by everyone involved (although this is not always the case).

In the Comedy(open) category, Watching Through the Static picks The Carol Burnette Show.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d9/The_Carol_Burnett_Show.jpg

How could this show not succeed with Carol Burnette surrounding herself with funny people like Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence and Tim Conway.
The popular variety show made the stars household names with such sketches as "As the Stomach Turns", "Went with the Wind" (a parody of Gone with the Wind featuring a scene with Burnett as Scarlett O'Hara in the dress made from a window curtain, complete with the curtain rod), "Carol & Sis", "Mr. Tudball" and "Mrs. Wiggins", "The Family" (which would later spin off into a show called Mama's Family), "Nora Desmond" (Burnett's send-up of Gloria Swanson's character Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard), and "Stella Toddler." A frequent repeated segment was "Kitchen Commercials", in which cast members parodied TV commercials that drove a woman (Burnett) crazy. It had frequent, high recognition guest stars. The long-running show was frequently nominated for Emmys, and won three times.

The Prisoner

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/f9/Prisoner_sm.jpg/200px-Prisoner_sm.jpg

One of my favorite TV shows, yet I have never seen the last episode.

The Prisoner is a British 1960s television drama series starring and co-created by Patrick McGoohan which combines spy fiction with elements of science fiction, allegory and psychological drama.
It follows a former British secret agent who, after abruptly resigning from his position, is held captive in a small village by the sea by an unidentified power that wishes to establish the reason for his resignation. Episodes typically feature the unnamed prisoner, labelled "Number Six" by his captors, unsuccessfully attempting to escape from or change the authority of "the Village." However, Number Six has numerous victories of his own, successfully thwarting the various individuals serving as the Village's chief administrator, "Number Two" in their attempts to break him or control the Village, causing a disconcertingly rapid turnover of personnel in the position. Eventually as the series reaches its surreal climax, Number Six's indomitable resistance and his mounting blows against the administration eventually threaten the viability of the Village itself, which forces its desperate warders to take drastic action.

For those who don't remember...

Balki Bartokomous, a sheepherder from the small Mediterranean Greek-like island of Mypos, travels to the United States in search of his relatives. He finds his cousin, Larry Appleton - who has recently 'escaped' from his large-sized family and is reveling in the unaccustomed luxury of having his own room to himself. They end up sharing accommodation in Larry's apartment - even though the two cousins could not be more dissimilar. For, while Larry is panicky, hyperventilative, business-like and mercenary - Balki is placid, unharried, sunny-natured and idealistic

The show hit the airwaves in 1986 and lasted eight seasons, ending in 1993.

Instead of everybody saying they're sorry could we not let other members of the draft know you're going to be away for awhile? Maybe kick yourself to the sidelines or send GS your pick? For me it's hard to stay interested in this draft when we're getting a lot of A/K's.

^^I agree with that, but some people do try and keep it going by doing what you suggest. I think we are just in a time frame now where Christmas is coming, there is shopping to be done, and parties to attend, trying to get work done so it doesn't creep up during the holidays, weather perhaps effecting internet connectivity. I am willing to let it go this month.

I hear what you're saying and can appreciate that. I know with habernac having the newborn and all his time is at a premium and i respect and understand that. Or Barnes being bogged down with work. Or others bogged down with school work and life in general. And that's never been a problem with me.

For ime it's being an ongoing thing that goes beyond this month. The lack of courtesy to others by not letting others know your going to be away. Maybe people don't check to see where they are in the draft and when thier pick is coming up. I don't know.

Maybe i'm being unrealistic here. If i am i'm sure i'll hear about it.

No, I don't think you're being unrealistic. It would be nice if people could let us know, but sometimes that's not possible. That's the point I was making. That, and I am not too concerned because this is just for fun and it's the holidays, so I am willing to let it go. If this were a serious competition or it weren't the holidays, I would probably be harrassing people via PMs or something.

Habernac's pick was at 12:14 AM
AK deadline +15 hrs = 3:14 PM
My pick made at 3:06 PM

I slept in this morning - I wasn't away and didn't know I would be eating up my selection time. Some understanding/flexibility at this time of year would be nice as we all have other things happening and while the draft is important, it's not something I'll put ahead of real life.

I agree it's important to let the commish know if you will be away and to send her your pick but if the draft simply moves faster than expected then that's what AK'ing is for. Either we need to shorten the time in which we have to make our picks or we just have to live with the fact that at times there will be a full 15hr lull before the next pick comes up.

Just my two cents.....

I would be in favour of shortening the AK time as the draft moves along. I would shorten it initially to 12 hours just because it makes the math easier: If the last in-turn pick was at 4:30pm, you know the next AKing will be at 4:30am, and the next at 4:30pm, and so on.

I would keep it at that point until the holidays are over (January 5, let's say), then shorten it even more to 6 hours. At this point, you really can't complain if someone picks a show that you wanted because if you wanted it badly enough, you would have already picked it. But, I don't know, 6 hours might be too short.

For me it's being an ongoing thing that goes beyond this month. The lack of courtesy to others by not letting others know your going to be away. Maybe people don't check to see where they are in the draft and when thier pick is coming up. I don't know.

Maybe instead of PMing your next pick just to GirlySports (who has her own life as well), we should also PM it to the person who picks after you in the draft since that's really the only person you're holding up. That way, if the person after you is waiting to pick, they can post your pick, then their own. If they're not waiting, you're absence isn't holding anyone else up.

The only problem with a really short AK time is going overnight.
If I see a delay during the day I may shorten the AK time.

If someone makes a pick at midnight how the heck can you make a pick by 6am? Since you suggested it getbak, you know you will be the first victim ;)

Oh, I know. That's as close to a guarantee as possible.

There were a few times in the movie draft where I would have been AKed by a 6 hour rule, and probably here too. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with midnight-6, but 10am-4pm during the work day would be tough.

I do think that 6 hours would probably be too short. 10-12 hours is probably the shortest you'd want to go, and I'd prefer 12 just to make the math easier. I watch tv so I don't have to think.

Team TV Guide calls to the podium a true classic of the small screen - a show that is still watched all over the world in syndication today - from the pre-1980's category, I Love Lucy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v710/Tavie/ilovelucy.jpg

From Wikipedia:
I Love Lucy is an American (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) situation comedy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situation_comedy), starring Lucille Ball (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucille_Ball), Desi Arnaz (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desi_Arnaz), Vivian Vance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Vance) and William Frawley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Frawley). The black-and-white series originally ran from October 15 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_15), 1951 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1951) to May 6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_6), 1957 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1957) on CBS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS). The show continued on for three more seasons with 13 one-hour specials, running from 1957 to 1960, known first as The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lucille_Ball-Desi_Arnaz_Show) and later in reruns as The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lucy-Desi_Comedy_Hour).

I Love Lucy was the most-watched show in the United States in four of its six seasons, and was the first to end its run at the top of the ratings (to be matched only by The Andy Griffith Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Andy_Griffith_Show) and Seinfeld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seinfeld)), although it did not have a formal series finale episode. I Love Lucy is still syndicated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcast_syndication) in dozens of languages across the world.

The show won five Emmy Awards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmy_Awards) and received numerous nominations. In 2002, it was ranked second on TV Guide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_Guide)'s top-50 greatest shows, behind Seinfeld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seinfeld) and ahead of The Honeymooners (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Honeymooners)[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_Lucy#cite_note-top50shows-0). In 2007, it was placed on Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_(magazine)) magazine's unranked list of the 100 best TV shows.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_Lucy#cite_note-times100best-1) The same year, the Washington Post (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Post) named it the second best TV rerun, attesting to its longevity and sustained popularity.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Love_Lucy#cite_note-2)

I was not a fan of the this show when it first came out but I started watching it a couple of seasons in and loved it.

http://www.tvblanket.com/image/two_and_a_half_men_tv_show.JPG

The Harper brothers Charlie and Alan are almost opposites but form a great team. After years they had little in common except their dislike for their mundane, maternally cold but domineering mother Evelyn, Allan, a compulsively neat chiropractor and control-freak, is thrown out by his manipulative wife Judith who nevertheless gets him to pay for everything and do most jobs in the house. Charlie, a freelance jingle composer in a luxurious beach-house and irresistible Casanova who rarely gets up before brunch around noon, puts him up 'temporarily' with his son Jake, a lazy fat school kid who shuttles between his parents. This starts off the sitcom around their conflicting lifestyles, such as how to raise the boy (who now has an efficient, caring dad for the boring stuff while having a ball with his fun-loving sugar uncle who teaches him boyish things), be moralistic or have fun, a stickler or popular, what's a 'white' lie... Other fairly regular characters include Charlie's fat cleaning lady Bertha and his rich, obsessively infatuated neighbor-girl Rose who often sneaks in.

Trivia
A great deal of the humor on the show comes from the real-life experiences of creator, Chuck Lorre. In a now-famous "Entertainment Weekly" interview, Holland Taylor said that Lorre was using the memories of his own less-than-great relationship with his mother for the story lines involving Evelyn, Charlie and Alan. It is a common misconception that the show is based on Sheen's life as it was reported in many tabloids shortly after pilot was aired. Charlie Sheen also said that it was "no accident...that Chuck finally decided to do a show about men. I'll leave it at that."

In all but two episodes, the title of the episode is a quote from the show. The exceptions are the pilot and another episode where the quote in question was part of a deleted scene. (See: List of Two and a Half Men episodes)

The show is also filmed on the '70s sitcom "Laverne and Shirley" set, after the Laverne and Shirley characters moved to California. The only major changes in the set are a small hallway at the base of the stairs and the kitchen is slightly larger.

According to the Season One DVD commentary, Lorre had to overcome network executives in order to cast Cryer as Alan. Lorre explained that while Cryer auditioned well for the character, the network was reluctant to sign him.

For my next pick, Frozen TV Dinner is very happy to select, in the Education/Information category, the children's tv classic, Sesame Street.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/32/Sesametitle.jpg/225px-Sesametitle.jpg

Debuting in November of 1969, Sesame Street was created as a way to give poor, inner-city preschoolers an educational foundation that they typically didn't receive in the home. This lack of foundation often left them behind their middle-class, suburban counterparts when they started school. By combining education with entertainment, Sesame Street was designed to be a show that would appeal to viewers of all ages, encouraging parents and older siblings to watch the show alongside the preschool target audience.

Sesame Street has been exported to air in more than 120 countries, with local versions (including Canada's Sesame Park) being produced in 25 nations. The show has received more than 100 Emmy awards (more than any other television series). A 1996 survey found that 95% of American preschoolers have watched the show by the time they are three years old.

As a child of the 70s, this is the intro I remember watching...

To this day, I cannot count to 12 without singing this tune...

Throughout the years, Sesame Street has frequently had guest appearances by musical acts doing educational parodies of their own songs (such as Trooper's "Raise a Little Hell" becoming "Raise the Letter L").

In the MEDICAL category...

http://www.dvdzap.ca/dvd-imgs/3821d0/doogie-howser-season-1-pochette-avant.jpg

The main character is Dr. Douglas "Doogie" Howser (Harris), the son of David and Catherine Howser. At the age of five, he was diagnosed with early-stage pediatric leukemia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leukemia) after suspicious bruising was discovered by his father, who is also a medical doctor. After successful treatments, he began to express a genius (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genius) level of intelligence. At age six, he got a perfect score on the SAT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAT). He completed high school in nine weeks, graduated from Princeton University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princeton_University) at age 10 and finished medical school four years later. At age 14, he was the youngest licensed doctor in the country. The series picks up on his 16th birthday; the cold open (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_open) of the pilot episode shows him stopping his field test for his driver's license (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver%27s_license) to help an injured person at the scene of a traffic accident.
In the series, Doogie works as a resident surgeon at a hospital in Los Angeles, and still lives at home with his parents. He also has a best friend, Vinnie Delpino (Max Casella (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Casella)), who is a more typical teenager and keeps him grounded in life outside his profession. He keeps a diary on his computer; episodes typically end with him making an entry in it. A trademark of the show was Vinnie climbing in through his window, to visit his friend. Doogie initially has a girlfriend, Wanda Plenn, but they break up in the course of the series.

http://i34.tinypic.com/291p30n.jpg select from the Cartoon category the cult TV classic........

"The Flinstones"

As a child i loved watching this show. Even as an adult i find find myself flipping to the cartoon channel to watch another episode.

http://www.alexross.com/TW1074-Happy-Anniversary.jpg

The Flintstones was the first, and the longest running, animated situation comedy shown in prime-time television. Premiering on ABC on 30 September 1960, it gained high ratings in its first season, thus establishing animation as a viable prime time format. Produced by Hanna-Barbera (Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera), The Flintstones was patterned after Jackie Gleason's The Honeymooners. Designed as a program for the entire family, the program did not appear as "children's television" until its rebroadcast by NBC in 1967. Its popularity with teenagers in its 8:30 P.M. Friday time slot, however, presaged the late 1960s move to animation as the preeminent format for children's programming.

Where's the remote? are happy to get the Reality (elimination) category out of the way. I'm not a reality TV fan and as such there are few such shows I can stand to watch. Thankfully this one was still available at this stage.

WTR select:

The Mole

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/a0/TheMoleUK.png/150px-TheMoleUK.png (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:TheMoleUK.png)

http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMjE5MDc0MTA1MF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzAxNjkyMQ@@._ V1._CR1,0,298,298_SS90_.jpg (http://www.imdb.com/rg/photos-title/summary/media/rm2235866368/tt0270792)

The series is a reality competition in which the contestants work as a group to add money to a pot that only one of them will win. Among the contestants is one person who has been designated "the Mole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mole_%28espionage%29)" by the producers and is tasked with sabotaging the group's money-making efforts. At the end of each episode, the contestant who knows the least about who the mole is, as decided by the results of a quiz, is eliminated from the game.

The Netherlands version of the show is the longest running with 8 seasons currently filmed. The American version has so far had 5 seasons.

Thus i will be offline for an unknown amount of time until this fricken computer of mine is fixed.

Probably best i kick myself to the sidelines until my computer is back. Gawd i hate the computer withdrawals :(

With our 9th round pick, Vic Mackey and the Strike Team are happy to select, in the category of Reality (ongoing) the closest thing to The Deadliest Catch (the greatest reality TV show of alltime) that exists, Ice Road Truckers.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1068912/

What these guys do is phenomenal IMO. Couple that with my infatuation with the Arctic and this show is a winner for me. The producers picked some great characters to spotlight on the ice roads, especially Alex Debogorski of Yellowknife and Hugh "The Polar Bear" Rowland of Kelowna. These two guys have been running the ice roads for better than two decades, have a friendly but competitive nature, and a great deal of knowledge about the job.

The show also does a great job of relaying the history of the communities involved like Yellowknife, Inuvik and Tuktoyuktuk. Additionally, it offers some unique insight into the exploration of natural resources in the Arctic.

Season 2 saw the group move to a new location for the first time ever and they used an ice road that follows the Mackenzie River to the Arctic Ocean and then on up the coastline. That's right, they drive on frozen sea ice!

Much like Deadliest Catch, I can't change the channel if I start watching the show. Too damn interesting!

It's been almost 17 hours, so I'm going to pick. In the Drama category, Team Legen...wait for it...dary! selects The Tudors.

The Tudors following the early years of King Henry VIII (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers), starting with his first marriage and divorce to Queen Catherine of Aragon and his affair and second marriage to Anne Boylen. The third season starts sometime next year and will follow the story of Henry's next two wifes, Jane Seymore and Anne of Cleves.

I enjoy this show because I am obsessed with anything relating to Tudor English history. It has wonderful sets and costumes and Henry Cavill may be the best looking man ever. It is nowhere near historically accurate but when watching a soapy tv show, I don't think it matters. The acting is also pretty good, except for Meyers who can be too over the top. Sam Neil was great in season 1 as Cardinal Wolsey and Jeremy Northam is also excellent as Sir. Thomas More. And because it's on Showtime, it has lots of gratuitous sex and violence.

With our ninth selection in the 2008 Calgary Puck Television Draft, we here at the Patterson Corporation are “pleased” to select for our lineup on our new channel MQS-TV, a show that does anything but educates us. Making us laugh through the absurdities in our culture, and keeping the PPV soft-core talk show market alive, nominated for 0 Emmy Awards, 0 Golden Globe Awards, and from what I can tell not even an AVN for its “Too Hot For TV” series. Staring the former mayor of Cincincatti, making it acceptable to chant his name during any melee what so ever, and always leaving us with an insightful final thought: From the Talk Show category, we humbly select from the National Broadcasting Company, The Jerry Springer Show.

Okay... for my next pick, I'm going to fill the World Category...

A Bit of Fry and Laurie!

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b2/A_Bit_Of_Fry_And_Laurie_Title.jpg

A Bit of Fry and Laurie, commonly known as ABOFAL, was a British television series starring former Cambridge Footlights members Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, broadcast on both BBC2 and also BBC1 between 1989 and 1995. It ran for four series, and totalled 26 episodes, including a 35 minute pilot episode in 1987. Both Fry and Laurie have expressed interest in working together again, but this has not yet taken place, due to both men's busy schedules.

The programme was a sketch show cast in a rather eccentric and at times high-brow mould. Elaborate wordplay and innuendo formed the cornerstone of its material — some sketches deliberately threatened to cross the line into vulgarity, but would always finish just before reaching that point.

It was a progressive show, playing with the audience's expectations. For example, it frequently broke the fourth wall; characters would revert into their real-life actors mid-sketch, or the camera would often pan off set into the studio. In addition, the show was punctuated with non-sequitur vox-pops in a similar style to those of Monty Python's Flying Circus, often making irrelevant statements, heavily based on wordplay. Laurie was also seen playing piano and a wide variety of other instruments, and singing comical numbers.

Team Abe Vigoda is pleased to choose, under Game Show: The Family Feud

http://www.goodasyou.org/good_as_you/images/Family_feud_classic200.gif

survey says........ Of course, my favourite is the original with Richard Dawson

Family Feud is a television (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television) game show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_show) that pits two families against each other in a contest to name the most popular responses to a survey-type question posed to 100 people. The format, which originated in the United States, airs in numerous local formats worldwide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Feud_around_the_world), including in the United Kingdom (Family Fortunes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Fortunes)), Malaysia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malaysia) (Famili Ceria (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Famili_Ceria&action=edit&redlink=1)) and Australia (Bert's Family Feud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bert%27s_Family_Feud)). In addition, a Spanish-language US version airs, known as ¿Qué Dice la Gente? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Que_Dice_la_Gente).
The current syndicated version's tenth season began on September 8, 2008.

1976-1985
Family Feud was created in the wake of the massive success of the CBS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS) hit game show Match Game (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Match_Game), which had set daytime ratings records in 1976. Geoff Edwards (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Edwards), then hosting Treasure Hunt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasure_Hunt_(US_game_show)) in syndication, was originally offered the show's Pilot; however, he turned it down after seeing The Neighbors quietly tank and also having a deal pending with Bob Stewart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Stewart_(television_producer)) for what became Shoot For The Stars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoot_For_The_Stars). [2] (http://www.gameshowutopia.net/geoff/shootforthestars/shootforthestars.htm)
Richard Dawson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Dawson), one of Match Game's most popular panelists, was the immediate next choice as host of the spin-off, which incorporated the team format and form of questioning (e.g. "Name a type of fruit") from the original 1960's The Match Game as well as the 1970s Match Game "Audience Match."
Host Richard Dawson and contestants from the 1976–1985 original version of Family Feud.

Family Feud premiered as an ABC daytime show on July 12, 1976 at 1:30 p.m. ET (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Eastern_Time_Zone)., with Richard Dawson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Dawson) as host and Gene Wood (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Wood) as the studio announcer. After its premiere, it wasn't an immediate hit, but ABC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Broadcasting_Company) convinced the show to move to its new time slot at 11:30 a.m. ET (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Eastern_Time_Zone), six months later, where it was a ratings winner, for the following several years, until 1984. A nighttime syndicated version was added on September 19, 1977, at first airing once weekly, then twice in January 1979, and finally every weeknight in September 1980, making that the first US game show to air ten episodes per week. When The $20,000 Pyramid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_$20,000_Pyramid) was canceled in June 1980, "The Feud" took the 12:00 p.m. time slot as reruns of Love Boat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Boat) filled the 11am-12pm hour.
With its ratings dropping, it was moved back to 11:30 a.m. in October 1984, in a game show hour paired with Trivia Trap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trivia_Trap) preceding it at 11:00 a.m. ABC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Broadcasting_Company) canceled the daytime show on June 14, 1985, and the syndicated version left the air three months later on September 13.
Dawson hosting "The Feud" was best known for kissing his female contestants on the lips, especially several times if she played the "Fast Money" Round.

In the Comedy (Sitcom) category, Watching Through the Static chooses Gilligan's Island

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b3/Gilligans_Island_title_card.jpg

The two-man crew of the charter boat S.S. Minnow and five passengers on a "three hour tour" run into a tropical storm and are shipwrecked on an uncharted, uninhabited island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. The episode "The Pigeon" places the island approximately 300 miles (480 km) southeast of Hawaii, while the episode "X Marks the Spot" gives a location near 140° longitude, 10° latitude, which puts it about 1,200 miles (1,900 km) to the southeast. Executive producer Sherwood Schwartz believed in avoiding exposition, and so he composed the sea shanty-style theme song, "The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle", as a capsule summary of the castaways' predicament. This was done so that first time viewers would instantly understand the premise. He took the same approach with the themes to "The Brady Bunch" and "It's About Time".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilligan%27s_Island

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The minnow would be lost, the minnow would be lost.

The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
With Gilligan
The Skipper too,
The millionaire and his wife,
The movie star
The professor and Mary Ann,
Here on Gilligans Isle.

So this is the talel of the castways,
They're here for a long, long time,
They'll have to make the best of things,
It's an uphill climb.

The first mate and the Skipper too,
Will do their very best,
To make the others comfortable,
In the tropic island nest.

No phone, no lights no motor cars,
Not a single luxury,
Like Robinson Crusoe,
As primative as can be.

So join us here each week my freinds,
You're sure to get a smile,
From seven stranded castways,
Here on "Gilligan's Isle."

If you keep doing it, one of the mods might put that in my user title. You know what they're like! ;)

Team TV Guide is proud to select in the mini-series category, Long Way Round. The show captures the adventures of Ewan McGregor & his pal, Charlie Boorman as they trek around the globe from London to New York on motorcycles.

From Wikipedia:
From 14 April 2004 to 29 July 2004, McGregor, Boorman, motorcycle riding cameraman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinematographer) Claudio von Planta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudio_von_Planta) and their support crew travelled from London to New York, via Western (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Europe) and Central Europe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Europe), Ukraine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine), Russia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia), Kazakhstan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan), Mongolia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolia), Siberia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberia) and Canada (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada), for a cumulative distance of 18,887 miles (30,396 km). The only sections of the trip not undertaken by motorcycle were 580 miles (930 km) by train (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train) in Siberia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberia), a short impassable section towards the end of their Russian journey, which was undertaken by truck, and a 2,505-mile (4,031 km) flight from Magadan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magadan) in eastern Russia to Anchorage, Alaska (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anchorage,_Alaska). Upon encountering numerous swollen rivers and a serious lack of functioning bridges while travelling along the Road of Bones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_of_Bones) to Magadan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magadan), the riders got their motorbikes through some fairly deep rivers. However, the summer run-off from the Siberian winter was in full flow and after a valiant effort, the bikes eventually had to be loaded into the trucks of passing drivers and ferried across some of the worst rivers.
The journey visited twelve countries, starting in the UK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom), then passing through France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France), Belgium (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgium), Germany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany), the Czech Republic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czech_Republic), Slovakia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovakia), Ukraine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukraine), Russia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia), Kazakhstan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazakhstan), Mongolia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolia), USA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) and Canada (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada), ending in New York (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City). In early episodes of the series the narration claims that they will visit 13 countries, which is consistent with a map in the book version which shows they briefly entered Kyrgystan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyrgystan) while travelling between the Kazakh cities of Shymkent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shymkent) and Almaty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almaty). However, the entry into Kyrgystan is not explicitly mentioned in the text of the book or TV series and the "13 countries" reference could possibly be a mistake, perhaps because they entered Russia more than once or counted Alaska or Siberia as a separate country.
The team mainly stayed in hotels while travelling in Europe, North America and populated parts of Russia but frequently had no option but to camp after reaching Kazakhstan and Mongolia. They took time to visit a variety of sights and landmarks while travelling, including the Church of Bones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Bones) in the Czech Republic, the Mask of Sorrow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mask_of_Sorrow) monument in Magadan, Russia and Mount Rushmore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Rushmore) in the USA. They ultimately arrived in New York on schedule and rode into the city accompanied by a phalanx of bikers, including McGregor's father Jim and the Orange County Choppers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_County_Choppers) crew.

Some more from Wiki on the travails while travelling (starring unfortunately our own fair city :bag:):
The trip was inevitably not without accidents and incidents. Ewan McGregor had petrol sprayed into his (recently laser-corrected) eyes at filling stations on two occasions. McGregor's forehead became badly swollen around a mosquito (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosquito) bite in Kazakhstan (Claudio and Ewan joked that it could be a black widow spider (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_widow_spider) bite) which required treatment and threatened to curtail the adventure.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Way_Round#cite_note-0) McGregor also showed his badly bitten rear and revealed that his penis had become swollen and painful during the trip, again due to mosquito bites.[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_Way_Round#cite_note-1)

Russ Malkin and Vassili rolled their off-roader in Mongolia and were lucky to escape with minor injuries. Boorman badly strained the muscles in his left shoulder in Siberia and was unable to ride for several days (this occurred while they were unable to cross the rivers and were largely riding on local trucks and with their support crew). McGregor was rear-ended by a very young driver outside Calgary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calgary) and was lucky that his panniers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pannier) took the brunt of what could have been a very serious incident had the rear wheel taken the full force of the impact. The following day Boorman was bumped while stationary by a Calgarian who reversed into him at slow speed, fortunately without causing injury or major damage. Cameraman Claudio von Planta suffered the only theft of the trip, when an opportunist thief stole his tent and personal effects which had been briefly left unattended while in Siberia.

I can't post any YouTubes from work but will get some together when I have a moment tomorrow (xmas party tonight! whooot!) - cheers folks!

Dammit. Sex and the City was going to be my next pick!

I'm not ashamed to admit that I've actually watched every single episode, and I've even seen the movie. :D

Why would you be made fun of? Good show, quite popular, some hot men in there every once in awhile (Aidan, in the second round of his relationship with Carrie)... We are talking about Sex and the City right?
