I'm going to let my 5 year old son pick because he has as good of a chance at getting it right as any of us do at this point.

I like Pettersens skill, but those numbers, in the USHL of all places, are not impressive at all.

I think Shinkaruk has the most talent out of those remaining. He was only a 7-8 points off of Klimchuk and Foo and only 2-3 goals behind. Still only 22 like Klimchuk (younger than Foo).

Shinkaruk is 23. Will be 24 at the start of the season

Yeah, sorry, I was looking at his stats on hockeydb last year. But the age difference is then the same for Klimchuk and Foo - they are also one year up from what I said.

I went with Shinkaruk but kind of think the right choice is Roman on second thought. Shinkaruk is by far the best player on the list right now but I just don’t think he ever sticks in the NHL for our team (should trade him for another similar reclamation player).

Roman is a center who some scouting services had ranked prettt high. Slipped in the draft due to an ankle injury. Has been impressive in international tournaments.

Also have to factor in Lomberg, who could earn a 4th line role even out of camp this year but has little NHL upside.

Lomberg was fun in his callup but out of his depth at what he's good at. He got well and truly trashed by Johnson and really wasn't the same after that. If he keeps that up he's going to have a short short career.

Shinkaruk, then there is another ledge. This years draft class is hard to get excited about because I know so little of them. The other prospects are at similar points in their careers to Shinkaruk but are not as good of players.

If the Flames didn't qualify Shinkaruk I don't think anyone would be surprised. Him regressing in the AHL as a 23 year old is a bad sign. Going with Pettersen since he has the best chance of beating him.

Probably the right time to end the slide for Shinkurak. Chances are he isn't long for this list going into the next couple seasons.

I’ve voted Pospisil for a few rounds now. I like his feistiness and think he could be keeper. At this point we’re all just guessing and I like what I hear about this kid.

I'm curious for those voting for Pettersen... Why him over the three fourth rounders this year? I realize where someone was picked isn't an exact indication of their prospective future but the Flames seem to have thought "less" of him waiting until the sixth round. With so little information on this year's picks it seems weird to me to vote for a sixth rounder over fourth rounders.

I agree with this. I’m trusting our scouts and voting Pospisil.

I don’t believe Shinkaruk will ever be an NHLer. He’s at or near the bottom of my list.

Hard call here (it's basically an "eenie meenie miny moe" from our 2018 picks... Pospical/Pettersen/Roman they all have their warts and mitigating factors. When I look at Pospical's statline I get a Brandon Prust vibe and he played 400+ games in the NHL... so I guess him.
