Pro gun advocate shot by her 4 year old Son
Florida - LOL
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...eat-truck.html
Quote:
A high-profile pro-gun activist was shot in the back by her four-year-old son after he found her pistol lying on the back seat of her truck just 24 hours after he boasted about his shooting skills online.
Jamie Gilt, 31, who posts about firearms on her social media accounts was driving through Putnam County, Jacksonville, Florida, on Tuesday in her truck when she was wounded after the toddler picked up the weapon and shot her in the back.
It came just a day after she said the youngster would get 'jacked up' before a shooting practice on a page dedicated to her musings on Second Amendment rights.
On the profile Jamie Gilt for Gun Sense she wrote: 'Even my 4 year old gets jacked up to target shoot with the .22'.
She reportedly believes she has the right to shoot anyone who threatens her family - and plans to teach her offspring the same mentality.

There needs to be serious charges against her when she recovers. It takes a special kind of stupid/neglect to leave a firearm anywhere near a child.

Feeling some powerful good schadenfreude about this. At least the kid won't have to go through life knowing he killed his mother. Wouldn't that particular type of gun have to be cocked before firing? If so, just how brain dead would you have to be to leave a loaded, safety off, cocked handgun within reach of some child in pullups?

The problem was that she didnt have her own gun so she couldnt defend herself.
See kids, this is what happens when you dont have your gun on you!

All this proved is the gun she bought was to small. Not enough killing power. Time to upgrade for something bigger.
Who leaves a loaded weapon within grasp of a 4 year old?

Well to be fair, if she'd put the kid in a child seat he wouldn't have been able to reach the gun, so really it's not her fault. Or something?

I looked up that manufacturer (Kimber). The guns they sell (at least the pistols) appear to be marketed as fashion accessories. Two-tone styles, elaborately machined triggers, cool names like "Crimson Fire II" and unfortunate names like "Rimfire".
Is this common in the industry?
And I know people say "a gun is a tool", so is buying one of these the same as buying a drill with a spoiler on it, or a screwdriver with flames painted on the handle?

Yes, it's simple marketing.
Kimber produces higher end pistols for collectors or those who simply "like nice things." Unfortunate names like rimfire are not unfortunate, rimfire describes a certain type of cartridge. IE your common .22 is a rimfire cartridge. Modern cartridges are either rimfire, or center fire. The primer for rimfire is located in the rim of the base of the cartridge, and are not reload able. Center fire cartridges are reload able.
