We are struggling to come up with ideas for Mothers/Fathers day activity/treats... not just for our family, but also respective parents, given the Covid situation here in Calgary. Actually I think we have challenges every year regardless of Covid, so I'm not posting this in the Covid sub.
What are your ideas/suggestions to make this work?
Here are a few of mine:
- Family walk/hike, might be outside of Calgary or even a decent park (ie Nosehill, Confederation, etc...) that's *not* on the Bow River pathway.
- Blizzard at DQ run!!
- Order take-out dinner
- Splurge on a home cooked steak & beverages
- Driving adventure (filled with "are we there yet", "how much longer", etc)
Assuming the weather is decent I'm planning a short visit to a park and a walk with the kids, then maybe coffee (takeout) and ordering a decent dinner so she doesn't have to cook
I think she'd want me to take the kids for most of the day (ages 1 and 3) but not sure if I'm up for that
Although I sure would like to propose the "good boning" for my wife, the optics might appear that it's not entirely "for her benefit" and I'm quite certain somehow I would get the blame for something. But it's worth a try!!
And no, I'm not even going to dignify the other comment about me mum.
At this point I think most of Calgary's moms are going to have their man *attempt* a boning, then possibly a breakfast in bed, then a car drive somewhere to look at something, then some kind of edible treat, a nap (see item #1 again), then not having to be involved with dinner, early to bed (see item #1 again, possibly give up), and some home chores done. Of course the other "gift" may be to just let them be alone and do their own thing all day without being annoyed??
Not so much a specific Mother's Day event but this year I got my wife a Cameo from one of her favourite celebs. It was pretty easy to use and it only took a couple days to get it. It's a good gift because she can share it on social media and there's no location restrictions etc.
I'm concerned my 8 month old isn't going to do anything for her mom, which means it's going to fall to me. Kids can be so thoughtless.

An interesting sociological study would be to tally how many couples have sex on father’s day vs mothers day.

Great idea. I did this last year and my wife loved it.

sounds like a neat idea.
just went to the website for the first time. looks like pretty good prices, especially for people who are more niche and not huge stars.

Memmo.me is another site that does these. I think its a Canadian (?) site so you get lots of smaller Canadian celebs and athletes like CFL players, TSN anchors, curlers, and the like.
