No. And I don't want to pay Hyman that either. But Hyman is better than Mangiapane, IMO, and he is a FA, meaning he will get paid more, whether he deserves it or not.

Huger.
And I predict Landeskog will end p being the more painful signing (if he leaves Colorado)

I'd take Hyman. He makes this team better. Most agree the team is going to have to tear it down in a couple of years so deal with the contract then while trying to succeed now while Darryl is at the helm.

I’m not totally against signing Hyman. Can anyone name any big $, long-term UFA signings in the last 5 to 6 years of players around the age of 28-31 that were considered quality complimentary players like Hyman that were still good contracts after 2 years? I’m talking about players that put up 40-50 points max.

It’s from Frank Seravalli in this article: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...avalanche-yet/.
"I just think that Hyman, as much as he'd like to stay, you can't leave millions and millions of dollars on the table just to stay," NHL insider Frank Seravalli of DailyFaceoff.com said during a Leafs Hour chat Thursday morning.
So, how many millions are we talking?
"The rumblings have been really interesting," Seravalli said. "Talking to another manager yesterday, they were saying that they think Zach Hyman is gonna be in the seven-year, $6-million-per neighbourhood. So that's significant coin."

Given the $$ and term that's been floated...Oilers will sign for 6x6 and declare victory. This is usually how they pre-chum the water...

Yes, and one person speculating $6M does not justify his claim of $7M.
Also, Hyman was 'looking for $5M' from the Leafs, clearly they are not offering it, or he would have signed. So Seravelli's quote of 'leaving millions on the table' could just as easily mean $5M elsewhere, or $4M with the Leafs.
I am always amazed at how quickly fans escalate expected player signings. Remember the angst over Gio 'wanting $9m'? Or the Gaudreau negotiations?

This is why Treliving must be fired immediately, for paying Zach Hyman $45 million a year for 23 years. (At the rate we're going, the rumour will get there in the next few hours.)
In fact, to be on the safe side we'd better fire him twice.

That's what makes forums fun. The drama. This isn't a library. Otherwise we shouldn't have rumor threads. Let's just talks facts and only post/discuss signings that actually do happen.
As of this point - the best information is that Hyman is getting a 7x$6M deal.

I thought the information was that he was asking for such a deal, or that somebody in the media thinks he will get such a deal. That's not the same thing as saying he has actually received an offer on those terms.

I think he can, and will do better than those offers.
Since entering the league in 2013, Landeskog is 32nd in league scoring (tied with Toews), just behind Hall and Mark Stone, and just ahead of Monahan and Johansen.
His PPG average puts him up there with Tkachuk, Forsberg, Laine, Zibanejad, and ahead of guys like Couture and Nylander. Over the past 2 seasons, his PPG average is roughly a point per game.
If you are just considering offense, forwards in the same 30th to 35th vicinity have cap hits of roughly $7.5 million AAV.
But, Landeskog is 28th in hits with over 1,000 since that time. The Flames forwards with the closest to that right now is Tkachuk with just over 500 Backlund with just over 400 (for context). Tkachuk does have a better hits/60 measurement though.
Add to that, Landeskog is one of the best leaders and plays a physical game. Not to mention, he is active in the community and oozes personality, which would make him very marketable in Calgary.
I could see a team easily offering north of $7-7.5 million on a long term deal, and $8 million on a short term deal.

No, the 'best' information is that one reporter is speculating that he may be looking for $6M x 7.
And he made that speculation from the fact that Hyman was looking for about $5M x 8 from the Leafs (who obviously haven't offered that to him).
So, jumping from that, and getting worked up about the Flames paying him $7M is pretty silly, IMO. (and I believe sharing opinions is what makes forums fun).

I’d take an overpay on Landeskog over an overpay for Hyman or Hall, I know that much.

Actually - I asked if you’d sign Mangiapane at $6M for 7 years. Not 6 years for $7M.
It was a simple, honest question. Maybe just forget I even asked.
