On Fan960 they stated the speculation is 6m x 7 years
Problem is the term,
If he wants 7 years that's a none starter.

I think it’s more reasonable to ask granlund and Schwartz for 7 or Hyman at $5.5 mil. If the term was short on the first 2 I’d go with granlund and Schwartz but I think Hyman is the most valuable of the 3 and the flames need higher end more so then depth
Not suggesting Hyman is high end and probably isn’t what this team needs but if he is the type that elevates players games maybe Johnny would benefit big time with Hyman on his line.

The closest comparison on the Flames is Mangiapane - he is the same great player, no matter who you throw him out there with

Honest question - would you pay Mangipane $6M for 7 years?

With Schwartz injuries I’m not sure I’d want him. Need to be cheap
Granlund is interesting as well because almost all forwards seem to suck in Nashville these days. Could be a guy that plays way better in a new situation and his contract would be cheap due to the last couple seasons

I’m kinda shocked about the negativity about Hyman. He’s a heart and soul player, a play driver, and a good 200ft player. He’s a leader, and has top-end work ethic, and plays a physical game. The Leafs will have a huge hole to fill if he leaves, as he’s a very important player for them. The term and money are both a bit much, but we need players like this.

According to Strickland the Avs have made the following offers to Landeskog and were not accepted.
4yr x $6.5mil
5yr x $7mil
8yr x $5.125mil

Would you sign Mangiapane to a 6x7?
Would you sign Hyman to a 6x2?
At least that brings them to the same age.

I don’t think you have people worrying if it was a 3-4 year deal between 3.5-4.5M per. The talk is 7 years or teams trading to get a 8 year deal with AAV 5-6M.
If we could sign Hyman to the Toffoli deal sign me up but big no to the Okposo deal

I would be fine with the Flames offering 6x8M but I think another team may top that.

I’m asking Enoch if he/she would sign Mangiapane to a 6x7 contract. It’s not that complicated.

If there is a huge bidding war for Hyman, there is going to be a huge bidding war for Landeskog.

Considering we are in the Hyman thread, I guess I just put two and two together.

What? How did we get to $7M?
From the article: "It’s believed Hyman is looking for about $5 million a year, over eight years"
'looking' for $5M

Sounds like the Avs get he isn’t the straw that stirs the drink on that line. Decent offers IMO but I get why landeskog wants more but if I was them I wouldn’t budge on those offers
