I don't know how people are blaming Treliving for taking a few days.

A tweet from a decade ago, spending a few days getting information is more than reasonable.

Because we're all human and make mistakes. If this were an off-ice incident that occured in the Flames dressing room, sure you've got a better case, but this was years ago at a totally different job.

Are we not allowed to make mistakes, apologize, and learn from them without having to be publically fired and shamed?

Excommunication is not an effective tool.

Treliving breaking down a little there. This whole incident hit him hard.

Sometimes, an apology is just not even close to enough.
I just want to say it is possible, because there has been plenty of time, that a tonne of growth had happened.

The Flames had to dismiss Peters, I believe that. What he said was reprehensible and certainly racist. I wouldn't even argue if a person was to insist he was a racist at that time.

What bothers me in the new age of public court, is that going forward, he will be labeled as a racist. Period. Which may be true. Or, over time, he's been exposed to different people and places, and has learned his past behaviours/thoughts/feelings were ignorant. It's possible the growth has already happened is my point. Not saying probable, but possible. Doesn't matter though, he's forever a racist. I don't believe that is fair.

Aliu mentioned something ten years later because it was timely and appropriate. I'm only saddened that we couldn't have heard this story in 2009. After the incidents in Windsor, the last thing I'm prepared to question is Akim Aliu's sense of right and wrong.

I for one am happy with and for Ward.

The guy has really put his time in gaining experience. I'm excited to see what he can do with the reins.

Flames will turn over the results of their investigation to the league, but they now consider the matter closed.

I give Brad massive kudos, rather than bending to the pitchforks and torches, he followed proper protocol and the saying of "Innocent until Proven Guilty"

Those people who say that it should have happened instantly are just uninformed fools.

He isn't being excommunicated.
He loses the opportunity to hold a premium job that only 31 other people hold.
That seems reasonable.
His life isn't over
His career as an NHL coach is.

Treliving visibly upset and emotional. It's pretty clear this hasn't been easy for anyone. My sympathies to all involved, and good to know this won't drag on much longer.

It sounds like Peters was his a friend, or close to it. That would be hard to do to someone you care about.
