Agree Bingo, love Bouma. He's Stephane Yelle redux. Gritty as ole' Sandbox.

Warrener's great because he's a complete 180 from most sports pundits. They're usually obsessive nerds with a comprehensive knowledge of facts but little personality or insight into the people who play the game. Warrener has personality (the duffus things is an act, and a funny one) and he understands players, but doesn't know any more about league stats or news than the average fan.
And for a former pro athlete, he's refreshingly candid. But that's probably another thing that irks some fans - he pops the fantasy bubble.

Not sure Yelle is a great comparable for Bouma. Bouma is much more aggressive, while Yelle played the defensive side of the game at a much higher level. I'm dating myself here, but Bouma reminds me more of Ronnie Stern.

Great comparison - and one of my all time favorites.

Quite a few d-men coverted to fwd (Buf). I always thought they should try Housely at centre.
Burns is the only guy I know who made a good transition the other way. A few goons have been used that way but I don't know why (McSorely).

I believe Housley did play some centre. I had a hockey card of him with the Sabres when I was young that listed his position as centre. I can't find anything online to back me up though.

Now that you say that, I remember him in his rookie year (maybe the first couple) playing C as well as defense.
IIRC, Housley was one of the first people drafted directly out of US high school and he was a beautiful skater but tiny for an NHL defenseman. So they tried him at C.
Anyway, converting from forward to D is immeasurably harder than the reciprocal.

I didn't know that about Housely. I was mosty thinking about his time here, when everyone complained we didn't have a creative centre.

thread's taking a lot of un-Shory directions but excellent banter anyway.
Re:
Warrener- will add to the voice that I love listening to them as a group in the morning, that being said, all of them need to be there, and it seems like lately they're batting 50% when all 3 of them are actually around.
Bouma- Love Bouma and always have. Was concerned when he wasn't re-signed and was pumped when he was. He plays hard and with a lot of character. He's tough as nails and a great bottom 6 forward, potting the odd point. I think the Yelle comparisons are valid for his affinity for blocking shots but having said that I was too young to really appreciate the kind of player Stern was. At any rate, Bouma consistently brings effort, and in my mind is underrated- not necessarily around this site as he does get praise, but by media, papers, etc. He isn't talked about much, and he should be talked about more.
Shore- I like that we have Shore. Estrada mentioned (what seemed like) concern that now there will be a carousel of forwards maybe sitting because of too many bodies. In my opinion, GOOD! We need that competition and drive to keep guys skating and wanting to be in the lineup. This is one of the qualities of the Flames over the last couple years that I love the ability to move guys in and out if they aren't playing well to drive that motivation to play.
I'm a little confused why Florida would do this trade, to be honest. A lot of people seem pumped to get Shore, and Knight was never going to be a mainstay here- too much competition. Also, does Shore's addition push back any Baertschi call ups?

I think I'm going to hold judgment on the trade until I actually see Shore play. More than once.

Cannot Imagine Shore's call up will hinder Sven's future cal ups. Reason being Shores a C/RW and Sven is LW. Positionally different on the depth chart.

It's typical here that a bottom 6 two-way centre gets acquired and the question is "how does this affect Sven"?
