LOL...yeah i had the same thought.

the beauty of this though is you can tell its not rehearsed, its just him spitballing answers to everything coming at him.

Boy he has passion for the game....cannot question that.

Not something I'm too worried about, but I'm sure a few will be happy to hear Peters off-handedly mention addressing his team after the game.

I think it’s very much lateral. The stats even speak to that. Personality may be an obvious difference, but the results haven’t shown to be the case for Peters. His 80ish point finishes with very little improvement from season to season isn’t too impressive and I doubt it makes a difference.

Peters could be a great coach for us, but to me, it’s 100% on Treliving on findings the right players rather than the personality of a coach which just seems trivial by comparison.

I think you need to give it at least a month before you can say things like this with a straight face.

The roster could be remarkably different by the time Peters is in a position to coach a single preseason game.

if that interview is any indication, upgrade for sure, no question.

I liked his talking points on player interaction, adjustment, speed, toughness, intelligence.

If this translates to the ice, the Flames are in a much better spot.

It's gonna take a while. Peter's wants to have access to everyone so that means even on teams still playing. Sounds like he wants a massive vetting process.

Good. It's my one major complaint with Hamilton. Mostly because those types of penalties are completely unnecessary for a player of his caliber. They're mostly of the lazy variety.

I hope he talks to Sam about the same thing...moving your feet a bit more in order to avoid taking a penalty.

Rob Kerr just had a great metaphor. He thinks this is "coaching porridge". Hartley was "too hot", Gulutzan "too cold", and the thought is Peters might be "just right" in terms of a mix.
How much was that coaching vs roster construction/players? You can try to implement a system to try to play fast, but if the majority of the team is a 6 or 7 on the speed scale vs the opposition who deploys mostly 8’s or 9’s, then you’re not going to be able to play faster.

This team doesn’t have any real burners. Gaudreau might be the closest and we gave up Byron who absolutely was. But like Treliving said, the style of play is going to be similar and in my opinion, it’s all going to come down to what Treliving does from here till game 1. We need better right shooting forwards in the worst way and that should be priority #1.

Keep in mind the Hurricanes were operating with a $59 million budget in arguably the toughest division. That budget also includes Wisnieski, Semin and Lack buyouts.

Flames spent $73 million on player salaries.

Was not a fan of this move at first, but after hearing Bill's presser and then interview I think I am more in favour of his hiring than ever... he seems like an big upgrade. Remember Sullivan busted out before going to the Pens - now is an elite coach. Many others have done the same. This guy is coaching Canada at the World's - clearly he has the chops and the stuff. I'm on board with Bill - there is hope!
