Seems the only reason GG wasn’t fired mid season was because Peters had a job.

It clearly hasn't. Just stop.

Expectations should be high. This team is past the state of tear down and rebuild. The roster is good enough to challenge for the division and this hire should not change that.

Ok, we have the coach. Looking forward to seeing how the team does.

I think all of the questions about this guy are out there. Time to turn the page.

Way to win the fans over by mentioning Brodie’s side. Man, if he just guaranteed a top priority on time out usage. That’ll grab the fans.

Make no mistake, the right coach, whether it is Peter's or not can turn this club into a division contender. With that said, there are still top end issues on RW that will limit the teams potential until addressed.

Don't think it's lateral. Even from a personality standpoint this is an upgrade. IMO that was a major point that needed to be addressed. Will it make a difference? I think so.

Just because Tre didn't interview other coaches doesn't mean he didn't try.

Ownership most likely played a huge role in not interviewing AV and the cost that would come with it. Same with the potential in waiting on Trotz.

Maybe he picked up the phone and called Daryl only to find out Daryl was enjoying life on the farm with his family and has no intention to come back. Can't interview a guy who isn't interested.

Then comes the tier 2 coaches and Peters is the best available option on paper for Tier 2 coaches. He wasted no time and got it done.

Yeah I completely agree.

Also not sure how stylistically this is a lateral moves. Gulutzan talked about wanting a fast, exciting team that attacks constantly. I'm not sure we got that.

Rob Kerr just had a great metaphor. He thinks this is "coaching porridge". Hartley was "too hot", Gulutzan "too cold", and the thought is Peters might be "just right" in terms of a mix.

I think that Gulutzen had the right idea for a system. But if I read between the lines, he didn't have a relationship with the players. This is a different guy who feels like he is more confident and has more of a presence. Will he be able to make meaningful relationships with his players? TBD. Will he have a better power play (Maybe?)

I don't see this as a lateral move at all - today's hockey requires a modern approach, but you still need a person who can manage twentysomething players.

I liked the press conference, said all the right things without being over the top. I liked his approach and demeanour and how he added anecdotes to some of what he was trying to explain. He comes across very well.

I didn't like the hire and I am still skeptical but I am a Flames fan so I will be rooting for Peters to do well and follow up on what he was saying in the press conference about the way this team will prepare and play the the game.

I thought he came across very confident and knowledgeable in the interview. I already respect him more than I did with Gulutzan. Hopefully that confidence resonates with the team and we see the results on the ice. I’m excited for the season to start now and am hopeful this team will finally live up to its potential.

Yeah it was like what they were supposed to ddo was counter intuitive to what they knew they should do.

Everytime I tune in to 960 it's solid commercials, I always get annoyed and rarely hear any real content.

The most interesting part for me was him admitting he was wrong in how he handled the Lack situation......I admire someone that can do this the first time you meet them.

Calling out a player like he did with Lack likely doesn't win many supporters and can be handled differently.

I like this honest approach.

Peter's on now.
