Calgary is the closest NHL city to his hometown. Also, not 100% sure, but believe his parents live in Calgary

Tarasenko has 1 more year left at $7.5 MM. He is 30 years old and coming off a 82 point campaign when he scored 34 goals. He also scored 6 goals in 12 playoff games.
Tarasenko has been a consistent 30 goal scorer in the league. Even if he doesn't want to stay in Calgary, he is someone who can easily get a 1st round pick at the deadline.
|
If Tarasenko comes over in the deal, there’s a pretty good chance he’ll be the Flames’ top scorer next season.

Johnny and Chucky also said they love Calgary.... and here we are.

still we shouldn't automatically be cynical towards Hanifin (or Coronato, for that matter) just because of those three. You never know.

* Probably can't rely on Sillinger to play 82 games at 1C, but I think those winger pairs make sense and you'd adjust the C's as necessary.
They've got too many forwards, but it's a pretty nice top 9. They've probably got to move Voracek or Nyquist for someone cheaper.

So much for that lineup.

Since the alleged trade proposal at the draft didn't happen for 2nd overall I assumed Nemec wouldn't be an option
But to land Nemec PLUS any of Mercer, Holtz, Bratt would be a crazy win for us.
Too good to be true lol

He also signed an entry-level contract with Ottawa back in March, so he's shown at least some initial commitment to playing for a Canadian NHL team.

yeah, he said no to Raleigh, North Carolina too... he wasn't a anti Canada thing; more just a 'prick that wanted to get his own way' kinda thing

Sanderson is already signed I think. So not an NCAA flight risk.

I wish we could just see Tkachuks list of teams. I really don’t think Ottawa would be on it.

If offers aren't good enough from his selected teams, I wonder if the threat of playing out the year in Calgary without Gaudreau and possibility seeing a significant dip in offensive production could encourage Chucky to open up the list a little more?
It would be a bit of a game of chicken, and might be too much risk for Calgary, but maybe just the threat could pay off

Flames would be crazy, to pursue that option.
They have to trade him, well before the arbitration date.

It would be such an awkward season if Chucky plays it here.
Thankfully I really doubt that transpires.

No one wins in that situation. He’s been really up front and said he will extend with a list of teams, rumour has it the list could be as many as 12. Trade will get done and all this will be over.
No way the Flames would want this looming over their season.

If I could pick any of the rumoured deals I prefer Bratt, Holtz, 2023 1st. F it, let's go Swedish wave.

Can someone in the know outline the key dates here. What happens with the scenario of Tkachuk not signing his QO, going through arbitration, not signing any deal, and not yet been traded come game 1 of the season. Does he sit?

He can sit in the press box eating popcorn until a deal is made.
