It seems the previous owner of that pizza shop (under a different name), ran the business into the ground, and not sure if people know there is a completely different pizza shop there now.

Anyway if you live in the SW, give this shop a try, I've been eating at varsity pizza for 20 years (OMG I can't believe that's true), and I really would like to see these guys do well, just genuine nice guys...and awesome pizza.

You're on.
I'll buy my next pie from there and report back.

I am not a thincrust fan so those places dont make my list.
So far Verona and Odyssey pizza and steak (its a long drive from downtown but was well worth it) on Bow Trail are the best I have had in Calgary. Because I am trying to watch my caloric intake pizzas havent been a big part of my life for a few years

Are people serious about Varsity pizza? Is it a nostalgia kind of thing or are there full pizzas COMPLETELY different than their individual slices?
I eat there here and then as I live in the NW but the pizza slices are your standard greasy, munchies-fix style of pizza.

It was better when it was owned by the Greek Family.
Now Varsity Pizza is not as good...and I can't figure out why

Grew up two blocks from there. We used to call it 'Bad Aroma'. Guess things have improved.

Jim the previous owner was just awesome. Such effort into crafting a good pie. I like the new guys quite a bit, but they would never compete against Jim.
YYC in LAX - I eat the slices every once and a while, but it's mostly just to feed my grease addiction. The ordered pizza is way better, but if you just don't like any grease you still might not care for it. With their slices they take them out of the oven and while still hot they wrap them individually in foil - this process traps the heat and grease in so it will soggy the crust and contain all the grease. This works for me, but it is worth ordering an 8" pizza from there to see the difference.

Verona's was my regular lunch spot for months, it's delicious. Then I realized if I eat pizza for lunch every day I gain 5 lbs per month. So I've quit cold turkey, but damn that's good pizza.

I lived in Chicago for 7 years, I can assure you that what they refer to as "Chicago style deep dish pizza" here in Canada, is absolutely nothing like authentic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza in Chicago. Here in Canada they are under the impression that if it has a thick and deep crust, then it's Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. Not true at all. It all starts with the dough, and the dough for authentic deep dish pizza is not even close to what they use here. Taste and texture is night and day different to the authentic pizza. I cant even swallow the crap they sell here. It's disgusting. If you want to know what real Chicago Deep Dish Pizza is like, go to Chicago and try Uno's, Lou Malnati's, or Giordanos .

Anybody know any good places, if you're ordering a large amount of pizza's (~20) if they'll give you a good deal?

As long as its not a chain you should be able to swing something and if it is a chain, they might have deals as well.
I know Sammy's often did huge orders.
P.S. As a former delivery driver I just want to say, please tip whoever brings your 20 pizzas generously. Especially if it's in the evening and not close to the location. Nothing sucked more than delivering a huge order like that, making 4 trips to your car and back, wasting half an hour or more (depending on location) and getting a regular small tip. A driver could do 3 or 4 regular deliveries in that time.
