McDavid also makes a lot of sponsorship money. An extra $2 million per year isn't as important to him. Winning a cup, especially in a large hockey market, could also increase his sponsorship money well beyond the extra salary.

So to confirm; dissentowner is betting all three of these guys at $100 each?

I think if he knew the cap was going up so much he might have waited since he could maybe have gotten $15 x 7 from somewhere.

But might as well take the guaranteed $112M and not risk it.

It will probably be the same with McDavid. I think they might move Bouchard in the offseason as an RFA and will offer McDavid something like $144 x 8.

That's the equivalent of 20.5 x 7 which is going to be tough for any team to beat.
That will be a fun cap structure to work with.

Over 30M for 2 guys on the decline.

I just can’t see how that strategy is going to work. The rest of the roster will have to be so watered down. You are banking on vets taking a discount to come and play with McDavid. It’s setting up for a train wreck down the line when you have zero organizational depth.

It’s essentially putting everything on red.

What if it’s not the richest contract in nhl history? What if he’s traded? Or retires due to injury?

It's almost no lose for Calgary though. Either he leaves and Edmonton is sad and doesn't recover. Or he stays and cripples the budget and they have no better of a team than they currently have.

How much does this matter when the cap is $113M by 2028?

I wish we had two top-5 players locked up for 7-8 years and $80M to build a team around them.

The no better then the team they have is a team that went to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals last year and is in 5th overall in the league right now

I much prefer he’s not on their team . The cap will be 25 million higher over the next few years . Easier to find depth players then superstars

I’d rather have to pay stars than have bunch of scraps. You can easily find garbage like Skinner and Arvidson in free agency.

I am so sure I will make you a person who is wrong leaves the board bet. McDavid is not staying in Edmonton. Draisaitl knows, that's why when he signed his deal when asked about McDavid's next deal he said "Connor has to do what's best for Connor"
You absolutely said Draisaitl was leaving, on August 13, 2024, three weeks before Draisaitl signed with Edmonton.

Can'y believe Kyle Connor was scrached. He's like 7th in the league in scoring?

He's doesn't play a hard two way game which is what they wanted I'm assuming.

Is Matthew Tkachuk a MAGAt? He’s calling for the tournament result to be overturned because the game was rigged. He’s a whiny loser.

Source?

I saw Brady Tkachuk was on a podcast suggesting Vancouver refused to release Quinn Hughes, which is silly because he only just returned to the Canucks lineup tonight.

A. No it's not the same team. It has a far worse PK due to the loss of their better defensive forwards Macleod and Foegele. They also lost Broberg and Holloway, who were decent in the POs.

B. Last season the waters parted for them big time. They faced a poor Kings team, an injury riddled Canucks team (it took them 7 games), a tired Stars team and a Panthers team that seriously took its foot off the gas when up 3-0.

C. I have no problem letting them continue to not draft high.

They're not 5th in the league either. They're 8th but only 2 points ahead of being in the middle of the pack.
