My 2 cents on Kuzmenko, from listening to what Gonchar(development coach with VAN) had to say about him:
1. His defensive play is due to him never being taught proper system play.
2. Kuzmenko put in a ton of effort on his defensive game, which resulted in a drop in his offense, but he was still always doing it with a smile.
3. Kuzmenko is a pro, and his Defensive play will click eventually.
4. He only had 2 years in the NHL, and is still adjusting.
I'm a huge fan of the guy, and I think that he will work his behind off to become a more complete forward. If he figures it out he will become a star.
He’s going to want a long term deal. If he wants a 2 year extension cool. Otherwise he has to be traded.
We can’t hand out long term big money deals to players in their 30s anymore.
We are going to have to eventually start paying the players we draft as well. We can’t just spend our cap space because we have it. Brad did that and we lost some players.
We want to retain our young player in their prime. Not sign bridge deals.

Yeah, I understand that Kuzmenko likely won't re-sign with the Flames, and would be traded at the deadline. I'm still cheering for him to have a PPG season, and bring back a haul.
You say this all the time. No one spends and this time here having discussions putting in time and effort wishing the team burns.
This is a rebuild. Kuzmenko doesn’t fit a rebuild.
Because people are saying stupid things like flipping him for a second now. If you can get him on a 3-4 year extension at 6M AAV and he plays to his ability you will get a haul for him when you trade him.

lol say that instead of making up crap that people want the team to ‘burn’ forever

What young players do you think we would be forced to bridge in 5 years because Kuzmenko signs a 5-year deal?

No, there is definitely posters in here that are only happy when the team is bad. That was proven 3 years ago when those posters hardly contributed when the team was winning the Pacific until they bowed out to the Oilers, then they came out if the woodwork like starving cockroaches.

But that’s not hoping the team burns.
I’m not sure if he brings back a haul. A 2nd is good value for him now. I’d rather keep him and move him at the deadline when you can probably get a 1st and prospects maybe.
Gotta always make another profile after receiving a lifetime suspension don't you.
Womp womp

Thanks for this! I am on the ball with everything about the game other than contracts. I should probably work on that
