I was fine with the move. I would not have put Johnny in the shootout it was obvious he had no mojo going at all even though he hit a post earlier.

I don't buy that. I see us draw all kinds of penalties. They're just not called.

Excellent defensive effort tonight. They gave the Oilers very little all game, and McDavid only looked dangerous in the OT with all that ice to work with.

Fantastic game by Elliott. I think he deserves the next start.

Johnny is really fighting the puck right now. Whatever is going on with him, I hope he gets out of it soon.

Can't believe how goddamn lucky the Oilers are. All of the bounces went their way tonight, the officials were in their pocket, and they continue to survive because of loser points and OT. Without Talbot and McDoofy, they're a below-average team at best. Sadly they've had our number this year, and it's frustrating as hell. But I have a good feeling the Flames will finally get that monkey off their back next week.
The bounces were pretty even tonight. Johnny hits the post and Maroon is robbed by Elliott both in OT.

Gaudreau has been slashed 100's of times no call, got a broken hand on a non call. So yea I agree.

Except our goalie made the save, and both Engelland and Johnny beat Talbot but not the iron.

I really want Chia to be the guy that has to try to figure out how to improve that team when 2 players are literally going to be making a quarter of their payroll. Draisaitl and McDavid.
It's a challenge but you make it sound like it's bad to have those 2 players. Every single GM in the league would take them and would give up a kings ransom for them.

Great game. Oilers have really improved unfortunately. We can beat them once our best players get some swagger back.

Here's the thing: Oilers don't matter. If we hadn't crapped the bed against them so bad at the start of the season, this game wouldn't be such a focal point. Last thing we want to do is go full-Oiler and start comparing ourselves to their progress.

Tonight's effort from the good guys was better than their effort against the Devils and better than many recent efforts. This is the intensity we need to bring more often. We play this style from here on out, we make playoffs.

It's almost as if Elliott is an NHL calibre goalie that has spent the past few years playing for one of the overall best teams or something...

I think the point is they are an average team with no depth as it is and will have to trim the roster pretty drastically BEFORE really becoming a contender

How many people find that the shootout just saps energy from a finish?

Flames win in the shootout? I feel alright.
Flames lose in the shootout? I feel indifferent.

I feel like I should be upset about losing to the Oilers but... it's just such a meaningless way win or lose a hockey game.

Feels better to win the SO but its more about the standings...nobody can honestly say wow we were better than those guys after that

Win or Lose my opinion is always the same about the SO

its not good enough to decide a playoff game yet it often decides playoff spots

Meh. At least the refs cant control the game in the shoot-out.

Myself, I have always found it to bring all the excitement out of the game. Shootouts win or lose are terrible.
