A skill player was poor playing 4th line minutes on a bad team.... I am shocked
he's at almost a PPG in the AHL this year
he has a lot more value than what is being talked about by most people here

They had no business playing him in a role he couldn't excel at or play his style of game. You have to put your young prospects into the positions they project to be otherwise your stunting their growth which Nino is a pretty good example of. He should have been playing at the very least 3rd line minutes with limited PP time, NYI should not be surprised at the request and I can only hope Sven and him are talking right now. He would be a big addition!

Nope. Gaudreau is on the upswing right now, too big of a risk IMO but the values there

Brodie, Baertschi and Gaudreau are all untouchables IMO.

No, but that is because I think that Gaudreau is going to be a special player. The last guy to do the type of stuff that he is doing at his age in college hockey was Paul Kariya.
As a frame of reference, he is outproducing Derek Stepan at the same age, Colin Wilson, Nathan Gerbe, Brian Boyle, TJ Oshie, etc.
edit: the last guy to really do what he is doing in college at such a young age was Jonathan Toews or Phil Kessel. But neither of those guys ever came close to 2 PPG in a season in their college careers, although they both were slightly younger than Gaudreau is this year.

I love Gaudreau but Nino is a very gifted offensive player who has the luxury of having good size to add to that, and he's a right wing.
Gaudreau is great but there is a huge risk involved with him because there's still a slim chance he makes it to the NHL as an impact player. If Nino played in the WHL last year like he should have he would be considered a top prospect. He bring elements that the flames need and that Gaudreau just does not possess. No knock on Gaudreau, he possesses offensive elements that Nino does not possess.
Try looking at it in the Islanders stand-point. Does trading Nino for Gaudreau make any sense at all?

Not all that inconceivable really.
Bouwmeester has, arguably peaked, and at his cap hit would be hard to absorb. Niederreiter is younger, cheaper, and has more potential at this point.
Potential is better than smooth skating.

I would trade Gaudreau if the right players were coming back, but I wouldn't do it for Niederreiter.
EDIT: I should clarify, if we're getting an established star player, then I'd be okay with it, but I'd still prefer to see the dome packed with #13s and #47s for the next decade.
That said, a player like Niederreiter, a big, strong skilled winger, is a huge need for this team. But realistically, it's still fourth (or third) on a list of needs behind center, defense, and a #1 goalie replacement.
Drafting Seth Jones will go a long way to fixing one need.

I would do Horak + a 2nd.
Would probably take Backlund + a 2nd though, or more.

Depends what's needed.
Niederreiter is the safer pick. He's going to be an NHLer. He has NHL size, skill, and can work as a top 9 forward with a strong ability to hit. The biggest thing he needs is some time to develop. That being said, I think his realistic end result is a player along the ability of Erik Cole.
Gaudreau is a special player, but still is a risk of bust. He has everything but size. The problem is that he needs to show, at each level, that he can handle the bigger, faster game. If he comes up though, he's could be a quality first line player.
I'd take Niederreiter if I were a GM, but Gaudreau if I knew they could reach their full potential.

Nino has no leverage to demand a trade, which is why I expect Snow to ignore his trade demand. What's he gonna do? Hold his breath until he passes out?
I wouldn't mind something around Nino+ for PK Subban. Subban and Hamonic would make a great top pairing.

Not sure about that one- Turris had more NHL experience and some nice flashes of brilliance, his numbers...meh- but Nino's experience and numbers look horrific compared to Turris'. That being said, I wouldn't mind the Flames taking a calculated risk on this guy.
