L.A doesn't have their first but can add a couple top tier prospects and a second tier like oscar moller if needed. At least I was under the impression Moller was a second tier prospect in their organization.

Yeah, he's on their roster and they're playing him in a scoring role... they'll want him for this years run. I think Teravainen is the better "ask"... less of a sure thing and his contract with his Finnish team runs to 14/15 so he's a ways away from the NHL but at the same time has high enough upside and fits reasonably into the Flames next potential window of contention.

Yup, when I included Saad I thought that was the most unlikely piece out of all of them. You could potentially switch Saad with a guy like Taravienen. Even with Taravienen it is probably too high.

Honestly, if the return isn't good enough, don't deal him unless you are pretty sure he won't re-sign in the offseason. The idea of trading your franchise player is to get a potential franchise player in return. A late first round pick, and a couple "maybe" prospects aren't worth it, IMO. Obviously you don't want to lose him for nothing, but it's not like Iginla has no motivation to return to the Flames. His entire life is here.

What tradeable top prospects do the bruins pens kings and hawks have? Maybe Seguin but no one else. I want someone who can take over leadership and will be ppg player. Brayden Schenn or someone like that. Even though i know he is not there yet.

I completely agree again with this post.
Alot of people on this forum are undervaluing Iginla and especially what he means to the organization. Its nearly as if you need validatin for a bad trade feaster may make. Buyers-remorse validation.

Trading Iginla means the Calgary Flames can finally move on and focus on grooming our next Superstars:
Johnny Gueadreau & Sven Baertschi
Iginla really came into his own once Theo Fleury was traded. Before Fleury was traded he was a 50 point guy
I expect clearing out Iginla would mean 1st Line minutes and 1 Line Powerplay time is going to be made available to a guy like Baertschi.
What really annoys me is that the Flames Twitter stream always tweets about how their prospects are doing and how many goals or assists their propsects got for their junior or college team.
Like they are trying to deflect attention off their miserable NHL Team and focusing on the 'future'.
However the way the Flames have been drafting and developing their players, and utilizing their young players - it seems to me that there is a huge contradiction.

I am sorry but anyone who thinks Ryan Clowe is an acceptable alternative for contenders to Jarome Iginla is completely out of touch. Just a ridiculous notion.

I'm with you man. Sad to me that this is how the Jarome Iginla chapter with the Flames is going down. Feaster at the helm just adds to the depression.
Sigh.

with what the pricetag we are seeing rumoured for Iggy, i am more than content on how feaster is handling this sensitive issue thus far. Hopefully he doesn't waiver from it and make a mistake.

The LA pieces for me is i don't like only because there would be no draft pick. LA has no first and it makes little sense unless the Flames plan on moving Kipper at trade deadline too.
|
I'd rather have Toffoli plus a 2014 first than a 2013 first and any one of the top prospects from PIT, BOS, etc.

Or it could be that Iginla had played three seasons in the NHL by that point and had already notched 50 points in two of them, and was clearly going to breakout anyways. You cannot say the same for Baertschi or Gaudreau at this point, and there is no way to tell what Iginla's role will be when those players develop to the point where they deserve those minutes.
Iginla is still the best forward on this team, so I don't see how re-signing him makes the team less competitive. It's not like the UFA market this year is brimming with players that are better than him, so we wouldn't be limiting ourselves in that sense either.

Why? Not trying to start anything.. just curious to know why you think this. PIT has some solid prospects.
