I really liked the personality of both of these guys and liked rooting for them despite their struggles to make their games more consistent. Any chance the chemistry in the locker room takes a hit? One of the things I like most about the group this year is how they seem to be having fun and sticking up for each other, would hate for that to suffer.

Really hope they both go on to more success and Pelts especially stays healthy.

Both guys are in the city, I expect we'll see Jersey numbers later today as both will be in the lineup tomorrow.

He wasn’t saying it sucks for the team. Just that it sucks for the young guys and, as a veteran despite having seen it a lot, it sucks to see them go through it.
That would be really hard. I think the feeling is mutual for Pelts from this city and his teammates. Would be a hard part of the business of being a GM too.

Some tidbits from Friedman when he appeared on The FAN Hockey Show podcast today:

- believes Farabee is the x-factor here as he believes he has the highest offensive ceiling aside from Kuzmenko of all the players in the deal. If Calgary can unlock it, that's a big one for Calgary.

- Frost's agent had asked him before if he wanted to ask for a trade given the issues in Philly, but Frost told his agent, "no, we're not doing that", implying Frost never complained about anything and preferred to work through things instead of going the "request trade route"

- Kuzmenko had Philly on his NT list, but Briere (and likely Jones) spoke to him during the day yesterday and sold him on Philly and the trade.

- Believes that Philly actually believes that Kuzmenko can help them.

- Believes that Kuzmenko may have been close to being put on waivers a couple of weeks ago.

- Conroy is flying to Philly today to pick up both Farabee and Frost to take them back to Calgary.

I'm a bit concerned about this last item after hearing it, as either or both guys could end up requesting a trade out of Calgary after spending an entire flight from Philly to Calgary with Conroy talking to them for the entire flight. Hopefully, Maloney is there too so he can take Conny away after 90 minutes or so...

Conroy sounded more upset about it than Kadri, to that point.

It’s the downside of drafting and building with a focus on character and coaching that into the room. You end up with great guys who love the city and vice versa, and sometimes they’re not what you need or they’re the piece you need to move out to improve.

I’ll take a team where it’s still hard to see guys go even when it improves the team every single day over one with guys you can’t wait to get rid of.

Alternatively, being asked to be a role model and mentor to the young Michkov, may end up with Kuzmenko finding another level in his game as he'd feel a sense of responsibility to a young teammate for the first time in his NHL career. I might be saying this because I've always liked Kuzmenko and enjoyed him as a Flame though, but I am really hoping he sticks around in the league and does well in Philly. I'm a big fan.

A GM flying to bring back his trade acquisitions is really going the extra mile. I don't think Connie needs to do that, but I'm sure the players appreciate it.

Just having a happy-go-lucky guy like Kuzmenko might be a liiting of the spirits for a young guy out of his home coutnry for ther first time. It seems like Puljujarvi was totally lost when he was thrown into the deep end by Edmonton with no support system of a freindly face speaking his language. Imagine the same thing for Mitchkov only with Torts as the coach.

The Flyers next game is on Sunday in Denver, so they probably flew straight there.

Kuzmenko was a pretty frustrating player on-ice, but let's never forget he waived to come to Calgary so the lopsided Lindholm trade could happen and then waived AGAIN to go to a struggling team so that another lopsided trade could happen.

#96 Forever a Flame in my books LOL.

Exactly the type if trade i hoped for. Shore up the Center position instead if forcing players to play them. A second this year is not much as this draft seems to really peter out in the first third or so of the second round. Now i know scouts are saying the 2028 7 the round might be the best this decade but come on its a seventh?

End of the day we still had to ice a team and if we are not selling and going for playoffs nothing could improve the team more than a center . Then adding a solid redemption winger is just a bonus.

Kadri
Frost
Zary
backs

Thats pretty solid depth at center. Maybe the best we have had in some time. Backs can mentor both you adjust ice time depending on who is playing best that night roll four lines.

Like most sorry to see Pelts go but other than good guy and placeholder what position did he really have on the team? I still think he struggles to carve a career not to mention the pile of wingers we have.

Fits in he timeline short and long. Addresses areas of weakness from strength.
I like it and it reminds me so much if the deal that brought Lindholm here originally.

Unfortunately it seems that avenue is becoming more common as is teams placating players more than they should need to

A guy that sticks it out under a tough coach in one of high character imo.

Farabee will wear 86.
Frost will wear 16.
Kerins switches to 6.

Why is Conroy flying to Philadelphia to collect them? They're not children. I always thought Conroy was a nice guy, I'm saddened to hear that he cares so little about carbon emissions and the environment.

I'm glad we got rid of Kuzmenko. Anyone who refuses to wear a pride jersey can take a hike. We never should have brought him in.
