Surely you can see that the post you're replying to wasn't partisan in anyway though? Like yeah, you hate the Liberals and NDP, and that's fine. But being an MP (or other politician for that matter) isn't as awesome as people think it is.

So the question is if you’re an educated, skilled, ambitious professional who can make 150k+ in the private sector, what’s the upside of going into politics? You’ll make less money. You’ll be hated by half the people you represent. You’ll have to move halfway across the country away from your family. You’ll have no privacy. And there’s a good chance you’ll be turfed from your job come election time - not because of how well you did your job, but because your party or party leader dropped in popularity.
The only upside I can think of is the pension.

As has been demonstrated, the more competent ones, who have the courage to stand on principle, end up getting fired.

Where does the assumption that the average Liberal or NDP voter support Trudeau/Singh?
I'd say I align closest to a Blue Liberal/Red Tory. I, and most people I know who are Liberal supporter but not party members, think Trudeau isn't a strong leader, and if his last name was Smith may not even be in cabinet.
I'd bet most traditional Liberal voters want to see a leadership change.
However, if the choice is between Trudeau and someone hobnobbing with white supremacists, wants to take away healthcare for women, and eliminate rights for the LGBTQ2S+ community, then even if they don't like Trudeau, they'd still vote for him.
The real problem with federal politics in Canada is that to be elected party leader is a completely different criteria than to be elected Prime Minister. The CPC won't vote for a centrist from the East (Pollievre is Ottawa based but from Calgary); Canada as a whole won't vote for a far-right populist from the West.
I'd love a fresh new leader to come in, for each of the parties. The big issue, as others have mentioned is... who wants the job? I sure as hell don't.

Has it been proven that the CPC or their leader are not corrupt?
My personal interactions with local MPs and other party representatives where they lie to my face and try to backpedal when called out on it combined with their policies that indicate they are more concerned with looking out for corporate interests rather than the majority of everyday Canadians leads me to believe they are likely just a different flavour of corruption.

Okay, the whole 'putting Yoho on ignore' in my signature was a funny gag for a while but in all seriousness, there are few users on this site more deserving than StickMan for actually being put on ignore.

I voted for Trudeau his first time running and have always said the strength of the CBC is in national news & local news, and it should be doing those things and not stupid TV shows.
Maybe you want to try again?

So essentially, he's leading in the polls these days so we should just ignore all those issues? For me, I have to come to grips with the fact that he'll probably win. Honestly, like we should all do, I'll hope for whoever the PM/government is to do extremely well. But in no way does that mean that I'll look past these kinds of issues.

Except programming like Schitt's Creek, Kim's Convenience, Heartland, and HNIC are what draw eyeballs, which attracts advertisers.
Schitt's Creek is one of the most acclaimed sitcoms of the last decade. Canadian TV in general (and CBC particularly) get unfairly roasted for their content quality.

If PP wins, his entire goal for staying in power will be appearing more moderate than the LPC are currently making him out to be - just like Harper. Staying in power as a CPC PM is about convincing the average person who isn't paying attention to politics on a daily basis that they're basically a less corrupt version of the LPC who are "better on the economy" for vague, undefined reasons.

Imagine being told by Yoho, this sites all-time least critical thinking poster, who is so spoon fed how to think by his social media feeds poster, that you are spoon fed.
I'm amazed the site didn't implode from the weight of this titanic irony.

It’s BS grasping at straws. He doesn’t do any of those things stated but a surprised snap shot with hundreds of others at Stampede or actually talking to the truckers and listening to their concerns is your proof?
It’s a joke. When that’s all you have left are staged outrage your in deep trouble.

Did he hide his olive branches he extended to the Freedumbers in his orifice?
Did he pay for your dinner when the RCMP froze your account?
