Prior to the linked article? You do realize the date of that article is Oct 7th. You know before this season started.

Since Darryl left the bench the coaching carousel was a gear grinder for me. I mean, none of the previous ones really worked out for various reasons but I for one am glad that the Flames are sticking with one for longer than two years.
Hartley's done a remarkable job since taking over and is rightfully rewarded. The W's aren't there yet but the attitude and "Culture" are set. Now a little more work from the GM is needed.

Not trying to egg you on here, but curious as to why you think that? And if he isn't the right guy who would you like to have behind the bench?

awesome news, I'm extremely happy that this got done. I was very skeptical when the Flames hired Hartley back then but he sure has won me over. I firmly believe he's the best fit for the Flames and their current situation.

Clearly a different philosophy than that of the Edmonton Oilers.

-No decision on Clouotier or Gelinas, or the rest of the coaching staff. Will worry about that later. But believes they've done terrific as well
-Talking more on the value of continuity especially in coaching. Obviously if they don't get the job done, that's it, but says there's a better chance of having success with one coach that having lots of starts and stops

That's all for Brad. Hartley up next

Im not saying he's the "wrong guy" to have back there, he has obviously done some good things.
With him as a head coach we have finished 25th and 27th in the NHL. The 27th place finish was the worst in Flames history.
Some people act that he has done an amazing job and that he can do no wrong. Every time I disagree with one of his decisions I get jumped on by his adoring fan club.

Here's Hartley
-Feels great. Y'know like, we have a chance to keep growing as an organization. That's what matters most.
-Team hit a skid. He's disappointed. Young guys learning to lose part of a rebuild. Will work through it
-The guys are hurt right now. Too much pride
-Missing solid 60 minute effort
Steinberg steers convo back to the extension
-Also believes in continuity.
-Felt like he had support from both Burke and Treliving right away. Felt like he connected with the new GM immediately and felt like he knew him for 10 years. Both dream about being a part of the next red mile
-It's clear where we want to go. Feels there's that commitment from everyone in the organization all the way up to King and the owners
-Not just a hockey team, loves being a part of this community
-Was never worried about going through the year with no extension. Both Treliving and Bob wanted to work together for a while and just worry about doing the job before moving onto this. Has loved every second of working with Treliving
*Tunein app crashed, not sure what I missed. Sorry guys
-Talking about working with 3 different gm's since being here. All 3 unbelievable human beings who have made his job easy
-The day Hartley comes to the rink with any intention other than winning is the day he goes fishing instead.
Sorry guys got an important work call and missed the rest.

What are your expectations in those seasons. Those are easy things to say, you get jumped on likely because you don't provide what you think "good" should have looked like in each of those seasons, and back up why you think the team should have done better.
With out that, people are going to jump down your throat because those statistics are irrelevant. Where should the Flames have finished in your opinion, and why, in the first season of a rebuild the year after trading away their veteran core, arguably best players and for the first time embraced a rebuild.
With out any of that context, your analysis is terribly incomplete and you should get jumped on for the opinion.

Neither am I. I think we should have waited until Hartley's contract had expired.... and then low-ball him with an offer.
Its obvious the guy doesn't know what he's doing and he'd probably get zero offers from other teams. We coulda got him for cheap dollars when he started feeling desperate.
