Is it weird I always think that the kids are like 2-3 years older than they really are? Is it due to their more mature play? Or is it due to the way we talk about them that their talent wise we have to be comparing them to individuals slightly older than them?

I always think they're 23-24 years old...

I wonder if the assistant coaches are going to be signed to extensions as well. Though they might want to keep their options open in case a head coaching spot becomes available.

I'm guessing its 3. Pure guess, but Hartley has done an amazing job thus far and I for one am not sure he'll be the coach this team needs in 3 years.

Well, at least you are making false claims about what Treliving is saying now, rather than making false claims about what Treliving is thinking.

So that is a step in the right direction at least.

I don't think he's going to see this contract out, but I actually like the timing of the news. It could give the team a lift.

Hartley will be the first #Flames coach since "Badger" Bob Johnson to coach the Flames for longer than 3 seasons.
This is the biggest reason why I am happy Hartley is being extended. Not only has he built an identity, and not only has he built a system where kids come in and succeed, but there is so much value in continuity.

Great news, he deserves it. The man has done a lot to change the culture of the team, and I think its been great for the development of the young players. As long as that keeps happening things like the current losing streak don't concern me too much -- I feel like the team will be heading the right direction overall under Hartley.

My sources on the inside say the team was losing as a form of protest to Treliving in order to get Hartley signed. Just shows how tight this group is. Expect a big win next game.

I suggest Hartley fans not read Ryan Lambert's next article on the Flames.

Or his Twitter. Especially his Twitter.

Treliving on 960 right now. Will edit this post with what he says

-It was re-sign Hartley, or light himself on fire and run downtown to distract fans from the losing streak
-Gives Jay Feaster a lot of credit for bringing Bob in.
-Very deserving of the extension. Timing with the losing streak is a coincidence.
-Hartley checks all the boxes in what Treliving thinks a coach needs to be
-Believes the relationship between coach and GM needs to be strong. Feels that theirs is
-Believes continuity of coaching a very important. Teams need a consistent message.
-Wanted to make sure that it was clear who the coach is going to be moving forward. Thinks the players need to see that this is the guy
-Loves Bob's energy. Head Coach is a very hard job, long hours, Hartley always full of energy
-He's changed the mentality here. Lots of work behind the scenes that Hartley's done
-They talk numerous times a day
-Still just a "multi-year" deal. Won't talk about exact numbers yet

-No decision on Clouotier or Gelinas, or the rest of the coaching staff. Will worry about that later. But believes they've done terrific as well

-Talking more on the value of continuity especially in coaching. Obviously if they don't get the job done, that's it, but says there's a better chance of having success with one coach that having lots of starts and stops
